Full circle: 4Q24 Eye on Asian economies/The strategist cookbook: Favourite charts, what we like, and what they tell us
Eric Fishwick, chief economist, will look at the parallels between the pressures on the Hong Kong economy today, as it accelerates its integration into the Greater Bay Area, with the situation 25 years ago when he first arrived in Hong Kong. Then Hong Kong was undergoing a credit contraction and asset price deflation that started with the Asian Crisis two years earlier but would end only with SARS in 2003. With the first US rate cut imminent, Eric will then present his forecasts for Asian growth, inflation, currencies and rates under either President Trump or Harris. Then, chief equity strategist Alexander Redman will review interesting charts and what investors can learn from them.
A picture speaks a thousand words. So in this compilation of his favourite graphics for calling equity market strategies, Alex Redman lets the charts do the talking. For each inclusion he presents an actionable takeaway, typically related to a price, earnings or revenue outlook. Alex charts a journey through the improving case for emerging relative to developed markets, before moving on to country specific analytics which in combination formulate his overall regional portfolio allocation.
