A trip to the paintshop
Almost done now, actually just need the few last touches on the bases, and finishing off the extra weapons. Much as I had hoped the added detail work, battledamage and color on the bases, really helped these minis a lot. Now I think the problem was the really large red flat surfaces the minis had from shoulder to shoulder, and breaking these areas up did the trick.
I also moderated the dangerous end of the asssaultcannon slightly, since the premade barrels simply were so thin, that they were impossible to drill out.

Shaping up
Added some of the first details today, and I all ready like the overall look better - great! It's not much yet, but I think I can see where it will end now.

Painting Progress
Actually followed through with my intent to do some more painting. And hence my two defender robots are all but done. I still need to work in some OSL on the conversion beamer and add some décor to the bodies or leg guards and some battledamage, to make them fit in with the rest of the army, and finish off the bases of cause. Actually I'm not really jumping with joy, on how they are turning out - but I hope that will change once they get the last detailwork.

Does red still go fasta?
Having finished The Omniscion, I decided to jump right in and do some more painting. I wanted to finish my Defender robots, since I hate to leave a paintjob unfinished.

And the World Still Stands
After having spend the last weeks in a deep cave, actually thinking the world would have ended, our group ventured to the surface, and what did we find: the world just as we left it! No apocalypse Mayas!
Well better get on with the painting then.

Ready to defend
Second Defender Robot is ready for the battlefield. Armed with a Power Lifter and Conversion Beamer it makes up quite a tag-team with the first one I think. Found a couple of big shoulder pads in my bits box, which I liked the look off, so I changed the ones on the first one as well. I think it gives them an even bulkier look than the first run.
Conversion Beamer
The second Defender will be armed with a conversion beamer, and since I'm planning on adding a few in the army, I figured I wanted to come up with something decent looking, instead of buying a lot of FW or some other place. After a bit of playing around, I quite like the design I ended up with.

Now - go power lift!
Naaah I've not begun selling steroids, just finished the Power Lifter. Should be possible to up-scale it as well for larger models.

Power Lifter
For the second of my defenders I needed a Power Lifter. Since I wanted it to be considerably larger than any of the normal arms and didn't want to get the FW one, there was no other way than to build one - yay.
I wanted to add as much detail as possible without making it too crowded, and also wanted it to look like it would actually work.

Finished Defender
Got the first of the Defenders finished. Added a HK missile, magnetised as it is optional. Played around with placing it under the assaultcannon, but simply loved the way it added some oversized bulk to the whole setup, when placed on top.
I was a bit in doubt where to place the mechanodendrites, but I always liked the classic coming-from-the-back look.

Defender Robot
Started a new unit from the Legio Cybernetica today - the hard-to-kill Defender Robots. Will need to add some mechanodendrites and figure out a cool looking solution for adding a Hunter Killer missile.
The main body is from Bitspudlo.com, quite a dirty cast, but they do have some really nice looking stuff you don't see else where. The arms were way too tiny to be of any use here though, so they went straight into the bits box. Pretty happy with the head - really think it looks rather mean.
