In September 2026, Vitória will be the capital of formal ontology, hosting the flagship conference of the International Association for Ontology and its Applications (IAOA).

FOIS welcomes high-quality contributions in formal ontology and applications. An exciting program is being prepared with keynote speeches, panels, technical sessions, etc.

A number of satellite workshops on key topics will be organized as part of JOWO (Joint Ontology Workshops) 2026 – Episode XII: The Tropical Spring of Ontology.

This year, Ontobras (the Brazilian Seminar on Ontology Research) will be collocated with FOIS, and take place on the 23 September.
