She shot me, she shot me.

So. Gogol Bordello tore the roof off The Orange Peel last night. Pretty much all I can manage is a bullet point update, as every. Part. Of me. HURTS.

  • Walking around Downtown Asheville double-fisting Pizza I got out of the trunk because I was STARVING.
  • Insane drunk faeries in wedding dresses dancing around outside the Peel.
  • Eugene Hutz walking past us, and Mary and I being the only ones to notice and wave o.O
  • Dave and Dave being there with us <3
  • The Constellations opened, and were FANTASTIC. Best opening band I've seen. Will buy their CD, will seek them out in concert again. Their cover of Red Shoes was FANTASTIC.
  • Gogol Bordello. GOGOL BORDELLO.
  • I've never seen a club so packed, or a crowd with so much energy.
  • GOGOL BORDELLO
  • I can't describe how much LOVE I felt in the room. It was amazing.
  • Pouring of wine onto an audience.
  • Security guard dousing the audience with water.
  • Holding my own against a Gogol Bordello mosh pit. It put the ones at Rancid and Mastodon to SHAME.
  • Wonderlust King, Start Wearing Purple, Pala Tute, Immigrandia (We're Coming Rougher) and Trans-Continental Hustle tore the fucking roof off.
  • Lost my voice halfway through Wonderlust King. Which was the third song.
  • FIVE ENCORES.
  • FIVE.
  • Eugene's desperation to keep playing, and accusing the tour manager of being a Nazi when they were only allowed one more song.
  • Covering Dirty Old Town, and me with tears streeeeeaming down my face.
  • Me never having been so proud to be an immigrant <3
  • Closing with the whole crowd singing Redemption Song.
  • Teary group hugs.
  • Stumbling out into the blissfully cold air.
  • Heading to The Lab, downing gallons of water, and SCOTCH FUCKING EGGS!
  • Collapsing into bed the moment we walked through the door.

That was the best thing I have ever been a part of. Ever. Now to cut the rainbow yarn and bells out of my hair!
