Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know, without the corporate jargon.

Purchases & Pricing

Where can I buy your apps?

Most of our apps are available on the Mac App Store. Some are also available as a direct purchase from our website via Paddle. The Mac App Store is the easiest option for most people since it handles updates automatically and lets you install on all your personal Macs.

What's the difference between the Mac App Store and direct purchase?

Both versions are identical in terms of features. The key differences:

  • Mac App Store — managed by Apple, automatic updates, tied to your Apple Account, refunds handled by Apple.
  • Direct purchase — managed by us via Paddle, you get a license code, can be used on up to 3 Macs you own, updates delivered through the app.

If you're not sure, go with the Mac App Store. It's the simplest experience.

Are your apps one-time purchases or subscriptions?

The vast majority of our apps are one-time purchases. Pay once, use forever. No sneaky recurring charges. Some of our newer apps may offer optional premium subscriptions for advanced features, but the core experience is always available upfront.

Do you offer student or education discounts?

We don't currently offer student discounts, but many of our apps are already very affordably priced. Keep an eye on our newsletter for occasional promotions and special offers.

Refunds

How do I get a refund for a Mac App Store purchase?

Mac App Store purchases are handled entirely by Apple, so we can't process refunds for those directly. To request a refund:

  1. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com
  2. Sign in with your Apple Account
  3. Find the purchase and select "Request a refund"

Apple are generally pretty good about this, especially within the first 14 days.

How do I get a refund for a direct purchase?

Apps purchased directly from our website typically include a free trial period, so you can try before you buy. Because of this, we generally don't offer refunds on direct purchases once a license code has been used. If you have an unusual situation, get in touch and we'll review it on a case-by-case basis.

Downloads & Installation

How do I reinstall an app from the Mac App Store?

Easy. Open the Mac App Store, click on your profile icon in the bottom-left, then go to Purchased. Find the app and click the download button. Since it's tied to your Apple Account, you won't be charged again.

I lost my download link or license code. Help!

No stress. If you purchased directly from us, head to our license recovery page and enter the email you used when you bought the app. We'll send your license details straight to your inbox.

If you purchased from the Mac App Store, you don't have a license code. Just reinstall from the App Store using your Apple Account (see above).

Can I install on multiple Macs?

Mac App Store: Yes, on any Mac signed into your Apple Account. Apple's terms allow this for personal use.

Direct purchase: Your license covers up to 3 Macs that you personally own and use. Need more? Get in touch and we'll work something out.

I bought on the Mac App Store but the app is asking for a license code?

This usually means you've accidentally downloaded the direct version instead of the Mac App Store version. Here's the fix:

  1. Delete the app from your Applications folder
  2. Open the Mac App Store
  3. Re-download the app from your Purchased list

The Mac App Store version never asks for a license code.

Uninstalling

How do I uninstall an app?

Open Finder, go to your Applications folder, find the app, and drag it to the Trash. That's it. Empty the Trash to free up the disk space.

If you want to remove preferences and cached data too, check ~/Library/Application Support/ and ~/Library/Preferences/ for any folders or files with the app's name.

Will uninstalling delete my data?

Our apps don't touch your personal files. Uninstalling only removes the app itself and its own preferences. Your documents, photos, and everything else stays right where it is.

💻

Compatibility

What version of macOS do I need?

It varies by app. Each app's page on our website lists the minimum macOS version required. Most of our modern apps support macOS 12 (Monterey) and later. We always try to support as far back as reasonably possible.

Do your apps work on Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4)?

Yes. All of our apps run on Apple Silicon Macs. Many have been updated to run natively on Apple Silicon for the best performance. Apps that haven't been updated yet run perfectly fine through Rosetta 2.

Do you make apps for iOS or iPad?

We're primarily a Mac app studio, but we do have a few iOS apps. Check out the full list of our apps to see what's available for each platform.

Privacy & Security

Do your apps collect my personal data?

No. We take privacy seriously. Our apps are designed to work locally on your Mac. We don't collect, store, or transmit your personal data unless you explicitly ask us to (for example, if you contact support and share diagnostic information). What happens on your Mac stays on your Mac.

You can read our full privacy policy for the specifics.

Do your apps require an internet connection?

Most of our apps work completely offline. Some features (like checking for updates in direct-purchase versions, or syncing data between devices) may use the internet, but your core app experience doesn't depend on it.

Why does the app need accessibility or disk permissions?

Some of our apps need specific macOS permissions to do their job. For example, a clipboard manager needs accessibility access to monitor your clipboard, and a disk utility needs full disk access to scan your files. macOS requires apps to ask for these permissions explicitly — we only request what's necessary, nothing more.
