My friend @KuriLu is visiting this weekend, so any replies about shipping and items will be delayed, sorry.
We attended MP15 today, where along with purchasing lots of lovely doujinshi for my clients and myself (ALL THE XMFC *_*), I acted as an enabler and convinced @KuriLu to buy stuff, too. Her first event in Japan! XD
Then we went for lunch with my friend Marixsa, and wandered through a cosplay group in Yokohama, and eventually ended up at the Vampire Cafe in Ginza. Which was very fun, albeit expensive.
Now crashing, and I'll try to get back on track with responses starting Sunday night. (I also have a costume deadline coming up, Queen of Hearts design. Updates posted on Twitter, mostly under #cosplay.)
One ticket will be given to each entrant. Entrants who are "watching" fanservices at time of drawing will receive one extra ticket. Customers in the past six months will also get a bonus ticket when they enter. Check out the details here, and comment on the post to enter! In addition, I have several new services open!

I am now taking orders for Movies Paradise 15! MP15 is an event catering towards western fandoms, including Supernatural, Batman, Sherlock Holmes, Saw, Inception, CSI, and many more. Click here to visit the event service page, and send me an email with any questions -- or your order!
Decided to eat breakfast just as my alarm to go sounded, so I arrived a little later than originally planned. Still, made it in line at around 10:30 or so -- doors opened at 11. There was a line-up, but it was all inside. (Small favors -- it's air conditioned in the event halls, not between them. Sigh.)
I made my way over to the Hero Live! event booths first, and picked up two towel sets. One for me, and one for...actually, not sure. I have two friends here who I've hooked on Tiger&Bunny. It's also possible that it will go up for raffle at some point... ^^
In addition, Hero Live was doing a paper rally, with the prize being a set of 20 postcards by various artists. I managed to score four sets. You see, apparently you were only supposed to get one, or was it one at a time...so I went back several times. I had enough flyers for another two sets by the end of the event, but they had run out by then...*sadface* In any case, one set went to my friend when I visited her table to chat -- she's a Bleach artist, @namihebi00 on twitter. Another set is reserved to my friend who couldn't make it today, because she just bought the cutest Maine coon kitten ever, and thus had no money, lol. The last extra may go to my other T&B friend...
So, yeah. Paper rally. Meant collecting 5 info flyers from the participating circles. Which were a lot. (Not all 800, but a fair portion...) I started out today with about Y60,000, and now have about Y15,000. In USD, that's almost $600 spent. Granted, a lot were for clients, but if I'm being honest, probably less than half. *shakes head*
My weakness? GOODS. ALL THE GOODS. I several phone straps, including those screen-wiping ones, and postcards, and a clear document case, and the aforementioned towels... I managed to keep myself from buying all the pins, but it was close. (And this is on top of the fans and the goods purchased at GO NEXT!...)
(I'm not used to so many fan goods for my fandom, it's awesome and also a little terrifying for my bank account.)
In addition to everything Tiger and Bunny, I also grabbed a Bleach book, a FMA book, and...*thinks*...oh, right, those little penguin goods you can see in the picture! So adorable. The Bleach title was actually at a table in the T&B section -- I wandered over and was flipping through, when the artist was like, "Are you the one with the Renji wig at the Bleach Only event [February's B!B!!B!!!]?" I was so surprised to be recognized, lol. We were chatting for a little bit, and it was fun! They asked if I was an artist, and I was all oh hell no, I can't draw. (Which is true, I am so terribly jealous of the artists at these events.)
So pretty much, that was my day. How was yours?
(Kind of want to go down the street for ramen now, but I should save my money, shouldn't I...)
Short notice, but it turns out that I will be attending GOOD COMIC CITY 18 this Sunday, August 28th. \o/
GCC18 is a fairly large doujinshi event at the Tokyo Big Sight convention center. There are a planned 6500 circle spaces, and two listed "Only" events, for Code Geass and Tiger & Bunny. The official website can be found here, and the pixiv event page is located here.

Summer Comiket is coming up! \o/
For those unfamiliar with Japanese doujinshi events, this is a massive three day fanworks convention with tens of thousands of participating artists -- and many more attendees. (The lines to get in are crazy! But so worth it.) This month, the doujin groups are starting to hear back whether or not they managed to get drawn in the lottery for a space at this event, so keep an eye out -- your favorite group might be attending!

Update! Pick-up service and other related sales items will now be posted over at my new comm, fanservices ! Hope to see you there!
Hey guys, feikoi here, with yet another post on my services. Hopefully, for those of you interested in purchasing doujinshi (fan comics) and other goods in Japan through me, this will make navigating my journal a bit easier! I live in Tokyo, and collect doujinshi myself, so I've started offering shopping services and event pick-up services for people outside Japan. Let me know if I can help you!
First up, let's look at what's currently on offer:
GOOD COMIC CITY 18 pick-up service Event date August 28th, order deadline August 26th EST. Commission rate is Y800 or 30% per circle, discounted wall circle fee at Y400.
Group orders for online shops to be opened soon! Anticipated order date: September 7th.
Recently closed:
GO NEXT! pick-up service Event date July 18th, order deadline July 16th EST. Commission rate is Y1000 or 30% of your entire order. Shipping can be combined with Comiket or other orders. Please email me (feikoi [AT] gmail.com) for details!
Got any questions? Head on over to the FAQ page. It's currently focused on my pick-up services, but I'll be expanding it as I go. Wanna see what people have said about my services? Check out the feedback page. You can also contact me off LiveJournal by email: feikoi [AT] gmail.com. Feel free to follow my Twitter account, too! (Lots of fandom and random stuff there.) I use the tag system -- for further related posts, you might want to look through event and shopping service. Here, you can find my public event calendar. Know about an event in the greater Tokyo area? Let me know! No guarantees I'll be able to make it, but I'd appreciate the info. (Personally, my doujinshi collection leans towards Bleach, SPN, Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts, Saiyuki, and a few other fandoms, so if you hear about those... *__*) If enough people are interested in an event -- enough to cover expenses that day -- it's more likely I'll be able to make the event.
Since it looks like I'll continue to offer more doujinshi pick-up services in the future, I'd like to clarify some information on the process and pricing. If it's still confusing at all, drop me a line and I'll try to clear things up. Thanks!
As always, please read the pricing and event details closely before placing an order. Check the individual event pages for exact fees, and let me know if you have any questions. I will assume that you agree to the stated fees for the event when you order. Estimated exchange rate as of 8/22: Y1000 = $13 USD.
Basic Service Information I offer a few different proxy services, getting the doujinshi (fan comics) and goods you want from Japan to you. For fan events I attend, I run a doujinshi pick-up service -- I'll visit the requested circle tables and make purchases for you there. These events are the best way to get new releases, as well as buying from multiple artists in the same fandom/genre. Events I'm attending, as well as others I've heard about, are listed on my event calendar. But sometimes, we might be between events, or a circle you're interested isn't attending. That's where my online ordering service comes in. If your requested items are still available/in stock, I'll order directly from the circle or from the online shop handling their sales. Online doujinshi shops include Toranoana, K-Books, livret, youclub, Melonbooks, etc. Ordering
This post and my service are both a work in progress. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please contact me through LiveJournal, or email me at feikoi at gmail dot com. Thank you!
Update 4/24: This service is now closed to new orders.I want to make sure I have time to visit all the circles requested so far. If you've already contacted me with your order, you can still edit your request list up to the deadline. Thank you for your understanding.
Super Comic City 20is coming up! I'm offering my doujinshi pick-up services again, so please let me know how I can help! Taking place on May 3rd and 4th (during Golden Week), Super Comic City is one of Japan's larger fan conventions, with 24,000 spaces over the two days. Fun, huh? You can follow the link above for the official Akaboo event page, or check out the Pixiv event pages for Day One and Day Two to see some of the circles that will be participating!
So how much does it cost? The overall cost of the service involves the following:
Price of the items (JPY)
Y800 per circle, or 30% the cost of items from that circle (whichever is higher)
Large/delicate goods handling fee, if applicable
Shipping and handling fees
5% PayPal fee
Exchange rate is calculated at the current market rate (Y1000 JPY = $12.00 USD). Payment is through PayPal, preferably in USD, though I will also accept JPY.
Here's how it works:
Get me a list of the circles and titles on your want-to-buy list. Want goods? Let me know! Large/awkward goods may incur an extra shipping and handling fee.
I'll check the final list with you, and send you an invoice for down-payment. Down-payment is USD $8.00 per requested item, plus agreed-upon goods fees.
Event! You relax, I shop! (And cosplay, as time permits :3)
I'll let you know what items I was able to pick up from your list, the estimated shipping and handling costs, and send you a final invoice, minus down-payment. (If I was unable to pick up any of your list, or the final invoice is less than your down-payment, a refund will be given of the appropriate amount.)
After I receive your full total, I'll ship your package out within a week, via the shipping method you selected and paid for.
If you have any questions, please feel free to comment here, PM, or email me at feikoi [at] gmail [dot] com. Order deadline is April 30th, EST, so get your order in now! In the case of multiple requests for an item with limited availability, it will be first come, first served. Thank you!
EVENT SUMMARY DATE: May 3-4 ORDER DEADLINE: May 1, 11:00 EST (May 2nd, 00:00 Japan) DEPOSIT DEADLINE: May 1, 23:59 EST (May 2nd, 12:59 Japan) CONTACT: feikoi [at] gmail [dot] com FEEDBACK: View here NOTES: The pamphlet is no longer available for pre-order, due to earthquake issues. I'll try to help with circle questions, but don't have the official list on me this time.
So, in an attempt to actually message everyone with an update regarding the cancellation of HCC and the status of future events, LJ tells me that I've used up my alloted messages. WTF.
From what I'm seeing, circle participants from HCC have the option to transfer to the Osaka event next week, or get a refund on their tables. That means HCC will not be held at a later date -- safety concerns at the venue, as well as transportation and shipping issues were cited. The next event Akaboo has planned for Tokyo is Super Comic City in May -- no news on how this situation will affect that event yet.
In regards to Movies Paradise 14, the venue was checked and there is no damage, so the event will be held as usual. A circle list has not yet been released, but registration is closed, so I'm sure its just a matter of time. For those interested in Western fandoms (SPN, Holmes, etc.), you might want to check out that event page:
Hi guys. Apparently there are some rumors going around about Haru Comic City being cancelled. There`s footage of fires occurring in Odaiba, actually at one of the buildings near-ish Tokyo Big Sight (HCC`s venue). I`m not sure how or if this will affect the event itself -- akaboo, the organizing company, hasn`t posted any updates on their website yet. Even if the event continues as planned, there`s a chance that some circles may cancel, especially the ones living north of here or on the coast, as they would be the most affected.
As for me, I`m living in the mountainous area of west Tokyo, and while we`re still feeling the aftershocks here, it`s more the cessation of train service that`s affecting everyone out here. Personally, I`m typing from an internet cafe six stations away from home, after being stranded at work. I`ll probably be here all night. Sigh. Not exactly the auspicious start to my vacation I was hoping for.... and tomorrow I was supposed to go to an all night costume club event. Dunno if that's gonna happen now...
In any case, I`ll keep updating this post as I get more information. As it stands, I`m going to assume the event is still on until otherwise notified (by akaboo, the venue, or attending circles). I will, however, skip the whole deposit step, and have full payment due prior to shipping.
If you hear anything from the circles you follow, by all means, let me know.
Please reply here with earthquake-related comments and questions, and at my sales post for order-related inquiries and comments. Thank you for your patience...
UPDATE: Haru Comic City /may/ be on hold. Akaboo staff is in talks with the venue, more information to come later. akaboo.jp/There hasn't been any formal announcement, but apparently they've been getting swamped with queries, as one may expect. You can find their statement at the above link. (Your Japanese may be better than mine -- as always, I welcome updates from other sources.)
Update the second: HARU COMIC CITY CANCELLED, to be rescheduled at a later date.
