i thought i'd post before I fell asleep and forgot everything.
So my grandfather ended up coming with us. So...we moved stuff. And put away stuff. And set stuff up. Yeah. Not much surprise there. My mom made me a nice little gift box of junk food -- w00t! And then we went to the grocery store to pick up soup and tuna and mayo and bread and tea and nail clippers. And breakfast snacks.
Went to this "meet and greet" bit for Honors. Gah. Socializing in a crowded room. Met some people, won't remember their names. Left at the same time as another guy on my floor, named Paul. It seems we all identify each other by first name and major. He's aerospace engineering. Met the RA earlier, Robert, who's pretty nice.
Met Ashley. Was really awkward this afternoon, but thats ok. Anyway, came back from the social at eight twenty, was planning on taking a manga and reading it in the lounge area with my pocky, but someone kept calling my cell phone, an Andrea, who I think had the wrong number. I gave up and stayed in the room. A little after nine, Chelsey calls, and she and laura, rachel and jessica are outside, wondering if i wanted to come out and talk. Its so much easier to be with people I know, have history with, and lacking in awkwardness around. I think we've gotten over the whole awkwardness bit with the southeast ib kids, because we're not afraid to... well, much of anything.
Got back, and at around ten, Ashley comes over. (I think her roommate was on the phone, and was talking about "private things". Gah.) So, it was a bit stilted at first, but we started discussing anime and such. She's not a big fan of slash, but she doesn't scorn it, and knows a lot of ppl who like it, so its fine. I dont know a lot of the animes she was talking about, but again, its ok. She hasn't seen Full Metal Alchemist. I'm going to correct that. Muahahaha.
She left at like, two fifteen. My eyes hurt. My brain hurts. I'm tired. I think I'm going to read a chapter, then sleep.
Waaaaaaaaaaah! I did it! I bought an anime dvd...actually spent money on it!
Its RG Veda, of course. I was so happy when I found out it had been released...*sigh* now i dont have to stick with my french dubs of it. w00t. Also (the main reason I actually bought it) it was only ten bucks.
Also, went to the asian market store. Kinda smelly and grody, but most of them are, in my experience. Got some pocky, and ramune, and gummies...yumm... Strawberry gummies taste good with mountain dew...dunno why.
Annnnnnnnnnywho, I think that's about it for now. I'm gonna go look up the public library's website (if there is one), cuz I wanna go...and hopefully work on my translations. Silly me, I didn't bring ANY of the materials I need for that, but o well. I'll make do.
someone just called, at one in the friggin morning...not only that, but one of the phones is in here...and they have these annoying ring tones on theme, duuuuuuuun dun duuuuuuuun dun dun dun dun dun DUUUUUUUUUUUUN....you cant really guess from that, but its one of the common phrases in classical music...not that one overture that i cant remember the name for, but is associated with horse riding???, and not the dracula sounding one...but ccc g ccc g c g c e GGGG fff d fff d f d c e gggg....maybe some of you music nerds will be able to figure it out...
la la la... I'm going to sleep now. I'm even putting the computer away w/o finishing my latest manga obsession, "Haru wo Daite Ita", which is awesome, btw...despite the...odder circumstances, the relationship seems quite realistic (to ignorant me...dislike relationships, personally, but hey, great for others). And its cool. Yeah.
Current Mood: tired
Current Music:the fan...which actually works now...
heh...one of our writing prompts in either ninth or tenth grade...
Anywho, I finally submitted my app to UF...now i have to look at Amherst College, the Claremont colleges in CA, UVa, U of Chicago, etc, etc, etc...
Allow me to say, "Gah."
To make my dad happy, immediately upon completion of this entry, I shall look at housing at UF... he is so uber-obsessive about it, though i agree that it is a founded worry.
And how come i cant write like most ppl do in their journals? I used to have one at opendiary...but i got lazy, never updated it. Plus, i like bein able to put pictures up for this one.
Which reminds me: I have a new fandom!!!! w00t!!!! Ladies and gents, I now introduce....Saiyuki!!!!!
Unfortunately, there are only nine volumes total, and there isn't that big a collection of slash stories at ff.net. But I shall persevere!!!!!!!!! I just hope that, while reading the manga, I don't go insane like i did for RG Veda...There are only ten volumes in that series, but I got so obsessed with it, I couldn't bring myself to read the last volume...*sigh*. THe art is so pretty in that, too...and it literally depresses me when the characters are self-destructive, and only getting worse. Can you tell I'm not really one for tragedy pieces?
And the train of thought keeps wandering...Speaking of tragedy, in my English class, we're reading Hamlet. I wanted to read for Horatio, cuz he's cool, but one of the other guys--acting freak Josh -- wanted to read for him. Turns out that he has one of the soloquiys or however you say it memorized...and he wanted to show off. So I gave in, but not before whining that I wanted a nice long part to read.
He told me to claim Hamlet. So I did.
...Its fun.
I have this thing...obsession, if you will... about reading out loud. When I'm reading on my own, I have a tendency to read a lot of the speaking parts out loud, and do different voices for each. And since I also have a tendency to switch into various accents and tones, I can at least partially pull it off. Muahahaha. So while reading in class, I slipped into a slight english accent, more old english pronunciation, and a slightly "mad"/insane attitude, and had fun. I noticed that after a while, josh had started to do the same thing with horatio.
On a flatter note, the person who got the part of the king--with all his long speeches-- incidentally has difficulty reading, mostly with pronunciation and word choice... IT was interesting. I hope I get to keep Hamlet for tomorrow...
*envisions receiving a pet hamster like Mrs. Ackroyd's suicidal one, "Sylvia", but this one named "Hamlet"...*
Generally speaking, I set the deposit at a certain amount per book, unless you have a hard spending limit. So in this case, two books (of unknown prices) plus an extra spending limit of Y2000 would…

Oh no, I'm sorry! The people who were initially interested ended up dropping out for various reasons, so there won't be an anthology :( I'm trying to put together an avengers recipe booklet (of all…
