*tear*

I'm practically in tears yet again. I was reading other ppls blogs (why do I do this to myself?), and there was another entry about the "love in action" camps. Reading the comments in regards to the post though...

I don't agree with some people who get angry and categorize all Christians as closeminded -- don't get me wrong. But, from what I've been exposed to, an overwhelming amount of /hypocritical/ discrimination against homosexuals can be attributed to groups labeling themselves as Christian. The hypocrisy mainly centers around the basis of the religion itself -- love, and Jesus. (Can't say I'm a devout Christian anymore, so please excuse my overgeneralization. I know there's more. I was evangelical at one point -- then got involved in the occult.) Jesus loved people, and helped people, even when those people hated him and hurt him and were different from him. Also, its preached EVERYWHERE to love your fellow man, love everyone (even your enemies), be good to everyone, yadda yadda yadda.

Some groups tend to focus on certain lines taken out of context in the Bible though, and allow for hate. Hello, ANYONE could give deconstructive criticism on the Bible and find where everything contradicts itself. I hardly think that's valid. Also, slavery was legal (A few years ago, I had copied out all the laws and regulations for slaveholding and indentured servitude in the bible -- trust me, I know), and what about "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live"? Kinda goes against our murder laws, now doesn't it? As well as the ten commandments... The thing is, the Bible was written in ancient times, addressing ancient societal concerns. Not all of it is perfectly applicable to today -- in my opinion, at least.

But I digress....like I always seem to....

Anyway, some of these groups twist the concepts of love and help into torturing the unwanted behaviours out of people, in the guise of helping them because they love them.

My interpretation.

But fuck, isn't the point of a livejournal to give my interpretation? I try to be rational and consider the varying points of view and possibilities....

Anyway, about the comments of the blog I originally mentioned. I was brought to tears when I read some of the international replies, and how some people plan to bring it to their media's attention. Its just...*sniffle* I wanna hug them! Media attention is necessary in this case, I think, as wide as possible. Even if their is some investigation, it shows that the government or media (whoever) actually CARES enough about the children's welfare to look into it -- yes, even our gay children.
