So. Yeah. 430 AM and still not asleep. Was up to 3 sewing for SCA -- event's on Saturday.

So of course, on Tuesday night, I decide that sure, I can pull a high Heian male courtier's outfit out of my ass.

Wednesday morning, continue research on outfits. Settle on ikan sugata or less formal variant.
Wednesday afternoon, fabric shopping. 40$ on 6+4+4+7= 21 yards of fabric. Couldn't find any frogs. Already had fabric for my fake akome layer.
Wednesday night: Washed fabric. While waiting, sewed together body for fake akome layer. After much hemming and hawing, cut the six yards of hakama fabric (black on white floral! it's amazing) in four lengths of 4.5 feet. Sew legs of hakama together. Yes, two 45" wide panels equal one leg. Awesome. Play with pleating.

Thursday morning: Get free donuts.
The rest of Thursday: SEWING. So not in order.
--Hemmed hakama with drawstring, decided on five front pleats per leg (4" deep, showing 1" each). Made those foldy bits on the sides, eventually dug up excess white fabric for waist ties. Still crotchless (*gasp!* but period), but all that's left is to tack down the folded over bits. Hakama are basically done.
--Akome: Put shiny pretty fabric on akome body as sleeves and a strip at bottom (ran). Needs collar, and probably should fold-hem all the edges where the serging is. I love my serger.
--Hitoe: Body, sleeves, okumi together. Managed to sew sleeves inside out, so french seamed body and okumi (when I screwed those up too, gah). Needs hemming and collar.
--Kosode: Body, sleeves, okumi together. Need to hem front of sleeve, bottom hem and okumi, as well as sew on the collar. Stopped working on this around 3AM.

To do for tomorrow:
--Hem kosode, hitoe and akome. (half hour)
--Put collars on kosode, hitoe and akome. (1.5 hrs)
--Cut out black sheer panels for noshi. (half hour)
--Figure out how the hell to construct noshi-- neck placement and back 'pocket', mainly. (1 hr)
--Put together, hem, and collar noshi. (2 hrs)
--Draft, cut and make eboshi hat. (1 hr)
--Tack down bits of hakama, or safety pin. (half hour)
--Figure out other accessories/belts. (???)
--Shitabakama?

Total sewing to do: 9 hours plus.

Probably sewed about (21-00, 10-15, 16-21, 22-00, 1-3) 17 or so hours already. Not so bad :P

Leaving about... seven-ish, means waking up around earlier (duh, lol). Hair needs to be done before leaving, make up could be done in the car, I suppose...

sorry for the ending babble, its 530 AM already, gah.

note: long, thick hair does not a good top-knot (chonmage) make. I tried.
