whee, fabric!

So, with the 80 bucks I got for yardwork and mulching this weekend, I promptly spent (some of) it on fabric. Of course.







The red is kinda see-through, and made me think of the summer-weight nagabakama Laur was talking about... and thus, I bought all 8+ yards of it. Go Walmart dollar fabric.

Also, I got some green sheer (I need to stop with the sheer fabrics, srsly), and fiddled about with bustling. Granted, I could only remember how to do the one type, but it didn't come out too badly. Now to attach it to a skirt...








The original idea-let that I had was to use the stripey fabric in a standard knee-length skirt with a back slit, but since it just so happens to match the sheer... now I'm thinking of a long skirt, straight/fitted in the front with a back kick-pleat, or similar, with the bustle a separate piece on top. It might be fun to have something appropriate to go with a steampunk theme...
