koolaid hair dye
So this spring, as I'm planning on cosplaying as one of the Princess Princess characters (and who's playing who has yet to be decided), I thought I'd might as well pre-test an easy hair color option.
Conditioner and a package of Cherry Kool-Aid. Whee...
There are waaaaaaaaaay too many varying directions online, assuming I found directions to begin with, so a bit of experimentation was done.
I took a small section of hair by my nape as a test section. Painted it with the conditioner mix, and wrapped it in foil like you usually do with streaking. (used an old toothbrush in lieu of a paintbrush, since we couldn't find the small ones...) First attempt was for 15-20 minutes, in accordance to one set of directions. My hair is blond, so it should take color quicker, right? That... didn't work. The color barely held, just slightly tinted pink. Redyed and foiled the bottom half of the same bit of hair, and left it in for another hour and a half. It's definitely pink, now, but not as dark as I was hoping. I think I'll try three hours next time, but its midnight and I don't feel like staying up any longer.
