fic stuff

I'm going through all my text documents (that have very unhelpful names) and finding a bunch of ficlet portions and plot bunnies. Well, now the plot bunnies have their own lovely document, but I'm going to post the fic parts here. None of them have any coherency, so feel free to ignore. This is just so i don't lose them again.

1. Harry Potter ficlet, written for a rhyme I had gotten stuck in my head. Yes, the prophecy again. And the thing post ficlet? Horrid, I know.

"I know you say you would die to protect your loved ones," Snape began.

"I would!" Harry interjected, indignant.

"I said I know that," he snapped. "The real question is, would you live to protect the same?"

Harry paused, confusion crossing his face. "Well, I hope I live long enough to --"

"Not live long enough, you idiotic whelp. Live." Seeing no light of comprehension in the boy's expression, he sighed. "If you live, you may win by default. No heroics, no harebrained adventures, no valiant self-sacrifice. Can you drum up the will to live, even while others die for you?"

"I'm not going to run away from my fight!"

The professor shook his head in exasperation. "Of childish Gryffindors and senile Headmasters," he muttered. "What must I do to drill it into your head that this is Not. Your. Fight."

"I'm the only one who can defeat him. You've heard the prophecy! Why should I let others die trying to fight him, when its absolutely futile unless its me?"

The argument continued on and on,
Circling to no end.
Neither felt that they were wrong,
Nor were willing to bend.
What the elder did not realize
Was his argument's downfall.
The one they called the Boy Who Lived
Had never lived at all.

//Either must die at the hand of the other
//For neither can live while the other survives
//The one with the power to defeat the Dark Lord
//Shall be born as the seventh month dies
The one they called the Boy Who Lived
Had never lived at all.

2. Something that I was originally thinking Smallville or AU Harry Potter for....

There's something to be said for momentum. It keeps life going, by thae fact that it was going before. It also helped people get ahead in life, riding on their predecessors coattails.

____ glared at the stickshift in his hand, all too aware of the cars sliding through the newly green light as he wrangled his into first gear.

Plot Bunnies will probably get a separate entry devoted to them. Some of them are quite... crack-tastic. *le sigh*
