But more important than any of these was the vast, accretive weight of small things, from planes which hadn't crashed to men and women who had come to the correct place at the perfect time and thus founded generations. He saw kisses exchanged in doorways and wallets returned and men who had come to a splitting of the way and chosen the right fork. He saw a thousand random meetings that weren't random, ten thousand right decisions, a hundred thousand right answers, a million acts of unacknowledged kindnesses. ...For every brick that landed on the ground instead of some little kid's head, for every tornado that missed the trailer park, for every missile that didn't fly, for every hand stayed from violence, there was the Tower.
First--thank you to all the lovely people who left me comments on my last entry (or on my whiny one-line Facebook post, hurrrr). I love you so much and I am so blessed to have such wonderful friends who love me. ♥
Second, I can't think of any of you who WOULDN'T enjoy this, so if you've ever had a laugh at slash or fanfiction or fandom in general, do yourself a favor and click HERE. So. Damn. Funny.
I'm headed to Paraparaumu for flatbear's mom's party. I love you all. ♥
what the fuck, who needs coherency? fuck yeahhhhhh.
whoo hoo castro! props to the cabbie with the huge dreadlocks who drove leighrowena and I home while Marisa and I rocked out to Green Day on my ipod, each of us with an earbud in one ear. He probably thought we were insane. WHO CARES I DON'T.
dear green day: never ever leave me again. I am so completely gay for the entire album that I have no meaningful way to describe how much I love it. tho talking to the gay bartender at the twin peaks bar was pretty cool. zoey bowie stories was pretty cool too. was this supposed to make sense? just buzzed enough to know I sound like a retard but not drunk enough to make typing errors. pretty cool I guess.
oh yeah my hair is red again. it's gettin' kinda long too, think I wanna cut it short again whenever I get around to getting a hair cut. gonna cut this off now as I think I'm rambling about stupid shit that doesn't exactly make sense.
dear world: i love you. thank you for being awesome. ♥
So you know I talk about this girl that I know all the time, Miss jou? Maybe you've heard me mention her once or twice? Maybe you've even seen me linka fewpiecesof sexy art? You might even remember me linking to this gorgeous picture of one of my characters, Charlie Dean Bingham.
WELL GUESS WHAT. My lovely, dearest, incredibly talented best friend and partner-in-crime is TAKING COMMISSIONS!!! So go! Go check out her art! If you need more examples of her artwork, here's all her most recent art posts, and again, here is her page where she's taking commissions!

Just popping my head up to let everyone know I'm alive. I don't have time for anything resembling an update at the moment, because we have to leave so I can catch a bus back up to SF, but I figured a hullo might be in order. I have the rest of the weekend off (THANK GOD), so I can do laundry, straighten up the room, get my shit all sorted out, etc. etc. etc. And during that time I promise to update about the Foxboro Hot Tubs (STING!!), our shenanigans in England (rainy! memo: blog about Olympic napping across London), finishing the Dark Tower series (*insert epic keyboard mashing* ASLDGHSLDFHJGLDKFJGHLKJAGLHDFGKJALFJASDF GUNSLINGERRRRRRR), seeing Alkaline Trio (15th time... wow) and my upcoming job that I am so vurra excited about. It's good to be back in California. Now if only I weren't so goddamn jet lag. *drools on self*
Just a heads-up that I'm leaving for London at zero dark thirty tomorrow morning, boys and girls! I'll be around, but not as frequent, and I doubt I'll be on IM at all. Take care!
So ASIDE from my massive Green Day thinger of that past two days, I want to ask the attention of all my UK flisties: I am going to be in London from this Thursday (May 22nd) through the evening of June 1st (two Sundays after this Thursday). And I already have plans to meet up with the lovely tasyfa, the unmatchable looking_spiffy and my dear beatupcar for this Saturday. I'm not exactly sure what we're doing yet (possibly hitting the Portabello road flea market thinger followed by browsing for books or something, but we're almost certainly doing dinner/drinks in the evening. So if anyone else thinks they might be able to come, either this Saturday or another day, I'd love to see if we could meet up! I got to hang out with jenlittlebottom and innerchorus and looking_spiffy last time, so I thought I'd give it another shot. EEEE!
Also: jou I fecking love my icon. *laughs self TO DEATH*
Whoops. Just posting a heads-up as to why I've been absent for a bit; I went down to LA on Friday to visit with mindfuckamerica. We had ourselves a fine old time, including randomly biking to breakfast (picture me, shrieking like an idiot and laughing fit to kill, on a bright pink bike with a big basket, tearing along after mindfuckamerica with no helmet, after not having ridden a bike in something like 8 years), fooling around by the beach, and going to the first day of Bamboozle. I was safely deposited at the LA Greyhound station at 2 in the morning and hopped on a bus to Santa Cruz at 3 and had a very long bus ride that ended at noon today. I hooked up with a bunch of friends from the Blood Pact and we saw Alkaline Trio at the Catalyst tonight and it was great (they played a bunch of new songs, and O MY HEART, BE STILL). Best of all, I have scored tickets to tomorrow night's teeny little Alkaline Trio show at Cafe Du Nord. Less than two hundred tickets have been given out. I'm so stoked and also, somewhat deaf, but I have not even glanced at LJ over the weekend because I didn't have my computer and I won't be around again till Tuesday. Glee! Hope everyone is doing well, I will do my best to catch up when I come back! ♥
EDIT: I meant to say... my voicepost was me attempting to capture Jimmy Eat World playing The Middle at Bamboozle, on a whim. It turned out kinda scary! Hahaha, sorry about that!
I had a conversation this evening that established that if Death Eaters should attempt to Imperius all the members of my family, I have a fail-safe nickname that my family members call me that no one outside my family would know.
But the act of having this conversation voided the safety this nickname provided me, and now if revid ever joins Lord Voldemort, I am doomed. As are all my family members. Oh, hindsight, you fickle beast.
Speaking of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, I found this old blog post awarding everyone's favorite evil wizard the top honor in some Top Villain contest, accompanied by a particularly creepy picture. It made me think about what really makes a villain a "good" villain (like say... Darth Vader) instead of a crappy one. I'd say Voldemort is a particularly effective villain, better than Sauron (one of the other examples given in that blog post)—he's far more immediate and horrible than Sauron, who mostly sends his minions to do all his evil deeds. And as creepy as the Witch-King of Angmar is (I had so many nightmares as a small child involving the Nazgul, I can't even tell you), he's still not the main baddie. A villain has to have presence, man. I need to be affected by his appearance. And in my opinion, the more bad-ass, the better. (There's a big bad man with a big bad sword and an amazing hairdo who bears mentioning here. Come here, Sephiroth. I HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN YOU.) Sometimes villains are just way cooler than the good guys.
Moving on, because I have no attention span, I've had a lovely week. It's always good to reconnect with your best friends and spend time with your family. I even re-did my user info today, which was overdue, considering up till today it still said I live in Ohio. Hee. I finally joined Last.fm after everyone else, and while it still won't let me make charts detailing what songs I've played lately, I stuck the artist quilt chart in my userinfo. Riveting, I know. Try not to faint. I might tweak it some more, and stumphed is helping me with the rest of the journal, but for now I'm satisfied.
Lastly, if you missed it first time around, here is the sign-up post for mix CDs, should you like to join the fun. I believe that I ought to end this post before I bore anyone else to death, so have a good night!
