  • Got back to San Francisco at 10 am yesterday morning. Realized I had no phone with which to call revid and resorted to that charming relic of a bygone era, something called a pay phone.. It was magical.

  • Came home, ate greasy chinese food with revid, then showered & succumbed to the call of Apple and went to get myself a new iPhone. (...I don't think I ever mentioned it, but my old one was stolen while I was in New Zealand. NOT ON, NZ.) So now I am in possession of Artoo the White. (Both as a reference to his shiny purty color, and to the fact that he pulled a Gandalf and came back to me WHITER AND SHINIER THAN EVER.)

  • Stayed up till 1 am (36 straight hours since leaving Sydney, what the sweet hell) then slept till 1 pm. (Yeah, shut up. You would've too. Don't be a hater.)

  • Realized for what felt like the billionth time that despite all the planning & scheming I did to run off on Ye Olde Big Trip, I had given next to no thought to what the hell I'd do upon my return. So to all of you asking "WHAT NOW?" the answer is "HELL IF I KNOW." It probably involves some form of completely over-the-top writing, though. I am already thinking about a longer trip a year and a half to two years from now maybe this time I can make it somewhere where nobody speaks English but meeee

  • Went and saw "Thor" (again) with some random dude from OK Cupid, had a generally very satisfying time. THOR SMASH! CHRIS HEMSWORTH HOT! Now I have to go watch all the other Marvel-universe movies again. Life: so hard. Totally had to shut down some random drunk guy on the bus, too. This actually happened: "So, like, you should come to this ...cocktail-tasting party tomorrow---" "Please stop touching me." "I'm not touching you!" "Well, not now. Because I asked you to stop." "...Oh, yeah, okay." REAL CONVERSATION.

  • Discovered that it's Star Trek Big Bang sign-up time again. WHAT THE HELL? WHERE DID THE WHOLE YEAR GO? Oh, yeah: writing previous Big Bang/working like a madwoman/saving up for a crazy trip/3.5 MONTHS OUT OF THE COUNTRY. Nevermind. Still, it's definitely a "where the hell did this ENTIRE YEAR go?" kind of moment.

  • Made an LJ post at 2:30 in the morning when I got home from the movie and wasn't tired. SIGH.

  • More intelligent post with Thoughts and Feelings (and hopefully pictures) to come tomorrow or the next day. Coz, GUESS WHAT, I AM CURRENTLY UNEMPLOYED AND CAN DO WHAT I WAAAAAANT! WHOOOOO!!! ....Ahem.

First--thank you to all the lovely people who left me comments on my last entry (or on my whiny one-line Facebook post, hurrrr). I love you so much and I am so blessed to have such wonderful friends who love me. ♥

Second, I can't think of any of you who WOULDN'T enjoy this, so if you've ever had a laugh at slash or fanfiction or fandom in general, do yourself a favor and click HERE. So. Damn. Funny.

I'm headed to Paraparaumu for flatbear's mom's party. I love you all. ♥

I leave for New Zealand two weeks from tomorrow, and I just got my Australian work visa yesterday morning! Whoo! ....oh god so much left to do. Brb, panicking!

Still at my dad's house. It's supposed to get down to 20 below zero (F) Friday morning. WHY.

Eh, here's a meme I stole from flatbear and isilrandir. Go!

Ask me fandom-related questions in the comments. They can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general. Questions can be as wacky as you want. Ask me about tv shows, characters, fanfic in general, fandom issues/meta, anything about any of my stories specifically. Whatever you want.

I am really minimalist and boring when it comes to fandom (I have, what, 3?) but go for it regardless. Fandoms include Star Trek (TOS and Reboot), Star Wars, Green Day, the Dark Tower, X-Files, and uhhhhhhhhh... yeah, that's pretty much it. If you think of something you're pretty sure I'd be able to answer though, go for it.

Brief update! I totally fell off the post-a-day meme, but that's okay. I'm still posting more than usual.

    Updates!

+ Gone to 3 sessions of Vinyasa yoga thus far, with plans to attend 2 more sessions by Sunday. I am sore today, but not as sore as I was either of the previous two times, so that's progress! I have also discovered that while I am quite flexible, I have fuck-all for upper body strength, and I need to work on strengthening my core, too. But I'm excited. Yoga + regular jogging = an exercise regimen that doesn't require a gym.

+ I now have tickets to see Green Day, Dave Matthews Band, Florence & the Machine, and Passion Pit in the next 2-3 months. I'm going to see about getting Gogol Bordello tickets, too—anyone who's interested in coming, they're playing the Fox in.... October, I think? I TOTALLY want to go.

+ I realized how much of a walking Bay Area stereotype I've become earlier this week when I was sitting on public transportation with my Timbuk2 messenger bag in my skinny black jeans en route to a yoga class, reading The Kinky Girl's Guide to Dating, with two weed brownies in my bag, waiting on a text message back from my tattoo artist. Yeah. Go ahead and laugh, I sure as fuck did. At least I haven't turned into a hipster.

+ I have reached 35k on my Big Bang. REALLY GETTING DOWN TO THE WIRE NOW, PEOPLE.

And on that note, I am off to write for the next 2 hours till I have to leave for work. Hope everyone's Friday is coming along nicely! ♥

Eight hundred thousand people (approximately) will be swarming Golden Gate Park across from me this weekend for the Outside Lands music festival, and my only reaction is a grumbly "Get off my damn lawn, you hippies" because they'll all be clogging my bus stop and making it hard to get to and from work... not to mention go for a jog. I don't actually even know that many bands playing, which is funny because I miraculously have the ENTIRE WEEKEND OFF.

Which: I do not recall the last time I had two whole days off in a row, much less two weekend days off, completely. It's glorious. My goal is to write for 4 hours each day, exercise (yoga! jogging! HIKING AT LAND'S END), and to clean my apartment, Mad Max at Thunder-Dome style. I also want to make a point to see either "Inception" or "Sherlock," since everyone on my f-list has been ruining their collective panties over those two things recently.

Also, catch up on my sleep. Note to self: do not spend the entire weekend sleeping, no matter how nice that sounds. Oh god, I have to wash my sheets. It's an emergency, people.

This entry is turning dangerously stream-of-consciousness, which can't be good. So I think I'm going to end it here and wish everyone a nice Friday. ♥

    Bullet-point time! Go!

+ I'm running on 9 hours of sleep in the past 3 days. You can guess how this is making me feel. (If you guessed "manic," you win a prize!)

+ I am FINALLY approaching having one whole day off to myself a week. It will be MAGICAL. I am SO EXCITED. I will be spending the first one of them getting a giant tattoo on my back and then whining at the Boy while he tells me how awesome it looks and rubs lotion on my healing skin. (He is good at being the Boy, and seems pretty eager for the job, so. Also, he has informed me he wants me to go as girl-Kirk to his Spock. I have voiced my approval of his choice. And it was good.)

+ I am listening to Ke$ha as I type this and enjoying it an embarrassing amount.

+ I forgot what the hell else I was going to type here. But I have pretty much 100% failed at this posting-every-day thing, so, what the hell, I'm just going to try to post as often as I can.

+ Missing all that sleep has totally been worth it.

I think I just TMI'd all of you in one go. HA! HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!

In which I attempt to keep track of all the UTTERLY AMAZING fic I have read, as well as a great deal of art and other bits and pieces (like one totally awesome playlister who has been giving me musicgasms with her Star Trek playlists). (...DON'T JUDGE ME.) Work in progress, kids. I will be continuously adding to this as I read and get time to track down all my favorite things.

It's almost all K/S (I think there is literally one thing on this list that is not K/S—thanks, Vicky!), and it is by NO MEANS an exhaustive list, due to the fact that I have been mostly reading whatever jou and latenightarting have linked me to. Anyway, it's an attempt to keep track of all my favorite stuff, for my own reference, but obviously if someone finds it useful then that's awesome. Whee! Note: Some of it is TOS and some of it is Reboot fic; I will note which is which.

    In no particular order...Collapse )

Okay, so. While in England, I finally, FINALLY finished the last book in the Dark Tower series, AND since then I have also finished the graphic novel The Gunslinger Born and read the first 3 issues of The Long Road Home. So basically I am 99.9% on top of all things Dark Tower, and I can now SQUEE AT GREAT, EPIC LENGTH about the series for the handful of people on my f-list who actually give a crap. All the rest of you should probably scroll on by, it's All About Uncle Steve in this post. So can you tell me the way to city hall, or should I just go fuck myself?Collapse )

In conclusion, I have MORE than one plot-bunny currently gnawing the electrical wires in my brain, I want to get the 2 (3?) companion books to the Dark Tower series, and upon finishing the last book I IMMEDIATELY wanted to pick up book #1 again and start re-reading. (BASTARD!) I'm forcing myself to read DT-related books instead, and I've started with The Talisman. :D Falling asleep now so I'm gonna go to bed. Have a good night, all!

From an old 2004 Mammoth Press interview with Matt Skiba:

    *snip*

MP: Any ideas for a dream tour?

MS: The Network for sure, I love the Network. We would have to play to right, like us plus 5 bands?

    MP: Yeah.

MS: Hmm, I love the Network, have you heard them?

    MP: Yeah, great album.

MS: Hmm, who else The Network, Hot Water Music, can this be any band?

MP: Yeah, Misfits or whoever. Any bands you'd like to tour with.

MS: Hmm, well that's hard. If it were a dream tour I would not want to play because I just want to party and watch the show. I guess it would just be my favorite bands, Misfits, Damned, Clash, Ramones & the Network.

Because clearly The Network is up there with the likes of the Clash and the Ramones and the Misfits. AHAHAHAHAH!!!

    *snip*

MP: What's one song you wish you had written?

MS: There's a song called "roshembaum" by the Network. It's like the best song ever written. That song is the reason I love the Network so much. I heard it and just though, fuck I wish I had written that. There are tons of songs like that, but I got that record and it sent chills down my back.

I'm pretty sure that's the transcriptionist fucking that right up, as I'm sure he meant "Roshambo." AHAHAHAH. He played that song when he was DJing during Heather's art show in Chicago last year. Along with the U2 & Green Day version of "The Saints Are Coming."

Matt Skiba, Dorky Fanboy Extraordinaire. ♥ And now I gotta go to bed... getting up early to go hiking before work. Have a good night! ♥
