Pics Or It Didn't Happen // San Francisco
So I am leaving to go to England next month with
jou and my mom and have a lovely old time, and I just sort of realized that I have sucked royally at posting pictures of pretty much everything since I moved last year. In an effort to remedy that, I have made sweet, sweet love to the Bulk Uploader function of Photobucket and am starting from the ground up. Easiest and most recently relevant, here are some pictures of where I live, hiking in and around San Francisco.
Dial-up users... I am so very, very sorry.

Looking north from the roof of my apartment building. Hello, Marin County & Golden Gate Bridge!

One of some random photos I took while wandering through China Town on my way to North Beach.

This is the mural on the side of the pub next to City Lights bookstore in North Beach, in downtown San Francisco. The pub is called Vesuvio.

First half of the mural on the side of City Lights bookstore. City Lights was made famous in the 50s by the Beat poets; Alan Ginsberg, among others, used to frequent it extremely regularly, and I could easily spend about 5 or 6 hours in there without even noticing the time.

Near the point where the North Beach and Chinatown neighborhoods intersect. Also not too far from here (I think) is seriously old-school coffee shop Francis Ford Coppola wrote The Godfather in. (They have good coffee, if you were wondering.)

Standing at the water's edge at Ocean Beach, about a mile and a half from my apartment. That's the Cliff House up ahead there, above the water line.

And that is Sutro Heights, which is a great climb and a nice little park area tucked away from most tourists. It also has a bitchin' view of the ocean.

This is probably my favorite picture I took that entire day.

There was the remains of what I think used to be an actual house at the edge of that trail up into the park; residential housing butts up against the edge of the unordered area of the park, and the trail sneaks up right along that edge. I snuck inside and took some pictures, but I'm not the best photographer and the angle was sort of bad, so it's hard to get an idea of the size or shape or location of the building.

I am amazed I did not come out of my scramble through the underbrush without any bites, hives, or poison oak/ivy attacks. Go me!

Sutro Park Heights. The whole area used to belong to Adolph Sutro, one of the mayors of San Francisco. The area with the Cliff House and Sutro Heights is actually referred to as Land's End.

You had better believe I had AMAZING hair after this hike, my friends. Strong winds = best hair-do ever.

Thaaat's the Cliff House again.

A crappily-taken photo of the Sutro Bath House ruins. These are nestled in a little cove on the northern side of the Cliff House, and I expect sooner or later the rest of the sea-wall will fall in, but for now, it's a badass little set of ruins to go sit in next to the water's edge. It's out of the way enough to be usually pretty deserted.

YESSIR!

I kind of wish I had gone down this tunnel. Maybe I will next time I hike down there.

This is in a park I found completely by accident while the Blood Pact kids were visiting. I couldn't even tell you what part of San Francisco it's in, though I think it's near the Castro district. Randall something or other park. Anyway, it seemed to be one of the highest points in San Francisco, because the wind was terrific and the whole city was spread out underneath us like a map. I am lucky I did not fall off and bounce down the rock face like a Looney Tunes cartoon.

Aaand that's probably more than enough. Next I will attempt London pictures. For now, I'm going to bed. My boss is showing her love for me by scheduling me 10 straight days in a row. ROCK ON!
