I had a conversation this evening that established that if Death Eaters should attempt to Imperius all the members of my family, I have a fail-safe nickname that my family members call me that no one outside my family would know.
But the act of having this conversation voided the safety this nickname provided me, and now if revid ever joins Lord Voldemort, I am doomed. As are all my family members. Oh, hindsight, you fickle beast.
Speaking of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, I found this old blog post awarding everyone's favorite evil wizard the top honor in some Top Villain contest, accompanied by a particularly creepy picture. It made me think about what really makes a villain a "good" villain (like say... Darth Vader) instead of a crappy one. I'd say Voldemort is a particularly effective villain, better than Sauron (one of the other examples given in that blog post)—he's far more immediate and horrible than Sauron, who mostly sends his minions to do all his evil deeds. And as creepy as the Witch-King of Angmar is (I had so many nightmares as a small child involving the Nazgul, I can't even tell you), he's still not the main baddie. A villain has to have presence, man. I need to be affected by his appearance. And in my opinion, the more bad-ass, the better. (There's a big bad man with a big bad sword and an amazing hairdo who bears mentioning here. Come here, Sephiroth. I HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN YOU.) Sometimes villains are just way cooler than the good guys.
Moving on, because I have no attention span, I've had a lovely week. It's always good to reconnect with your best friends and spend time with your family. I even re-did my user info today, which was overdue, considering up till today it still said I live in Ohio. Hee. I finally joined Last.fm after everyone else, and while it still won't let me make charts detailing what songs I've played lately, I stuck the artist quilt chart in my userinfo. Riveting, I know. Try not to faint. I might tweak it some more, and stumphed is helping me with the rest of the journal, but for now I'm satisfied.
Lastly, if you missed it first time around, here is the sign-up post for mix CDs, should you like to join the fun. I believe that I ought to end this post before I bore anyone else to death, so have a good night!
