Friends only.
What's on your perfect playlist for a cross-country road trip?
The Offspring.
I seriously don't know what it is about them... but I just love having that music on the highway, driving in general! :)
Especially the more aggressive songs.
Road rage? Nooooooooooo. ;)
Happy Bastille Day! Today the French celebrate the event that sparked the French revolution. In honor of our Francophone friends, what is your favorite French thing? Bonus points for answers en français.
Would love to still remember how to answer this in French, but I'd totally most likely screw it up since it's been a while.
I've never really gotten a chance to go, but if I did I think I'd love to see Provence. From what we studied in class, it just seemed so pretty. And, as I recall, it served as an inspiration to a lot of artists.
... yes, I kind of have a secret appreciation for country scenery. XD This may explain my going to college in Pennsylvania.XD
What is your favorite old-school video game?
Though not old school by older standards, Earthbound on the Super Nintendo. By far. Today, people are trying to consider Halo 1 "retro"... so I think a 16-bit game can fit the bill for this, right?
Earthbound wasn't just a game to me. It was an experience. I remember the first time I saw it, even. My mom's ex-boyfriend at the time had shown me RPGs. It was the greatest gift I had ever gotten out of childhood, in my opinion. It made me want to read and learn new vocab as I was only in about second grade when I saw earlier RPGs he rented, and I then saw and played them(even going so far as to beating the Phantom Train in Final Fantasy VI by mashing A since I didn't know how battle worked). I even turned in a school assignment in 3rd grade with Terra, Celes, and Mog from FFVI in it. But this isn't about FFVI, this is about my favorite SNES RPG, Earthbound. I first saw Earthbound when I came home from school one day, and the ever-so-brave protagonist Ness was sitting in his home with the menu screen pulled up in the top-left corner. I thought the game looked odd at first, to be frank.
I then got to PLAY it. And that's when I fell in love. The sheer quirkiness of the game was something I'd never seen before. I had read a bit about it in Nintendo Power, of course, but it was nothing like actually playing. I didn't catch all the nuances in the dialogue until later(references and stuff), but the game was simply cool because as a kid, you could relate to that kind of stuff. Instead of swords, there were bats and yo-yos. Instead of potions, there were hamburgers. This kind of stuff was just interesting. And the story? Quirky and lovable. I skipped my first day of elementary school on purpose for this game, to beat the Summers area. Maybe this started my irresponsibility.:)
But by and far away, I loved it all. I still remember quotes, a favorite being from a shark punk in Onett arcade. "*saliva spit saliva spit* Want some gum? Get your own, twit." XD And I definitely can't forget how much I enjoyed just strolling around Fourside. And Moonside! Where yes means no, and no means yes.XD
But perhaps best of all, were the times I shared with my neighbor Justin playing this game. We always played the hell out of this game, and took turns. It was a really fun time, back then. It's a shame I can't ever go back to those simple times- do my elementary schoolwork, then have dinner made for you, and then just have to go play. Maybe that's why I favor this one so much. Sheer nostalgia.:)
Now I feel I need to re-play it this summer!:)
And to the other EB fans out there... if you haven't seen this, SEE IT! The EB Saga, a parody of the actual game.:)

Fans of Little Women often divide along Jo/Amy lines. Jo was independent and smart, but Amy always seemed to get what she wanted and have more fun. Are you in the Jo camp or the Amy camp?
I think we can all agree to disagree that adolescent women are dumb and should not have been portrayed in the media at all.:)
JO AMY IS MY OTP DAWG
Which, ahem, "internets" clichés do you wish would go away already?
I seriously hate people who overload their Myspace/Facebook/whatever pages. I don't care about how many digital rip-off tamagotchi flash pets someone has. And the glittery crap too.
Hello all. You're probably viewing this for the hell of it... perhaps.
