Wow, Danny's new car is well, bitchin' to say the least. Yeeeeowww. And it growls. Seriously. I will very much miss the silver one, don't get me wrong, but this one is well, a bit more untamed shall we say? LOL.
Cute episode but anytime you have Danny/Grace/Steve you can't go wrong in my book. They can't get any more married- with both being coaches of Grace's baseball team. LOL. (And seriously, people need to get off of Cath's ass.)
H50 tonight? Totally worth the price of admission for the calendar gag alone. Totally. Even better- that Danny actually did it for a charity thing. Too damned funny.
They finally posted the ohana_favorites awards and the one story I thought never had a chance was a winner! It was something I wrote for kare that I almost tossed but HCat thought was worth posting. First fanfic I've ever had win anything and in a fandom this size, I'm shocked and pleased! Link here if at all interested in reading it: Sacrafice
I'm leaving for Buffalo and to spend time with the lovely Kallie! Which means vidding and writing and talking fandom and slash and just having a blast in general. And god, do I so need to get out of work, I can't wait- I'm leaving at noon tomorrow and I'll be gone until Monday. Woot. I'll have Glimpses and No Surrender with me. And I've got several vids to work on so I'm so not lacking for fandom activities.
I'll also bring my current Gwenna project- Higher Ground. :)
Work has been a zoo for me these last few days. We've been down two girls who are on disability. I'm pulling and doing the work of one of the girls which has just heaved a bunch of stuff on top of what I already do. And I got some stuff from the other girl's desk today. Because you know, I didn't have nearly enough work to keep me occupied with in the first place. Oy.
Walking is still happening! Yesterday- 2 1/2 miles with decynthus. 17 consecutive days. Today- 2 miles with decynthus. 18 consecutive days.
As a rule, I don't write fun/fluff as I don't think I'm that good at it. And well, angst is what I do. But I couldn't get the thought out of my head that after Steve tried to sneak up on Danny in his apartment, and failed miserably, he wouldn't let it go that easily.
Title: Ambush Author: Fatorangekat (DC) Pairing: Steve/Danny Genre: Slash Rating: Hard R/NC17 Warnings/Spoilers: Minor mentions for episodes 2.8 through 2.12 Summary: After Steve's failed attempt to sneak up on Danny in ep 2.8- Lapa'au, he decides he gonna ambush his friend one way or another. It's a matter of pride after. But it's not as easy as Steve thought it would be.
Special thanks to HCat for her encouragement and awesome beta.
I'm chilling and relaxing at my friend's place this weekend and we talked about it last night and again today. Fandom. And the fact that even if we aren't into the same fandoms (She's Stargate, I'm Five-O), we still get it. We still understand and totally get it and it's fun. We don't have to apologize for it, we can go on and on about it and totally get it.
My walking partner and sometimes traveling buddy in crime, decynthus , is a huge Harry Potter fan and loves Daniel Radcliff. And although I've never read a single word of HP or seen the movies (I just heard the collective gasp, I know...) I completely understand her joy. She doesn't have to explain it to me because I'm already there.
So then my sweet friend, sassyinkpen puts on her journal today how much she loves Suits. To the point of "capslock". And I just grinned ear to ear because, damn I just so understand that level of enthusiasm even if I've never seen an episode. Because I'm so there right now with my current obsession. And it's fun and fresh and a blast.
And it makes me feel less guilty about the fact that I got sucked into Five-O. (which is an huge understatement, I admit.)
And that leads me to this topic. Sweet Christ I want to go to Hawaii right now and hunt down Scott Caan and Alex O'Loughlin. Seriously! I'm so freaking jealous of the damn tourists down there who have been in the right place at the right time and getting fantastic pictures and video of the on location shooting that started last week. And we aren't talking distant, oh-it-looks-like-that-could-be-Alex kind of pictures either. I'm talking about right on top of these guys with fantastic behind the scenes stuff that makes a girl like me swoon with envy. I'm mean seriously. SERIOUSLY people! I just can't get over how freaking open this is to the general public! Just to prove my point (and why I'm just green with envy here), check out Scott Caan from this lucky bystander from Wednesday's shooting. And Alex O'Loughlin here from I believe the day before that.
I watched The Dog Problem today. Scott Caan wrote and directed it, and starred in it too, although he was not the lead in this one. It was cute, I thought his character was absolutely hysterical as the womanizing photographer. But the strip club scene- okay- that was worth the price of admission all by itself, I gotta say. When the jacket came off and he started dancing I couldn't stop laughing. That and the bit where he's in his ripped underwear and the little old lady walking by is acting all offended. Very funny. I could watch him in his underwear all day.
My blog article for Lyrical's third anniversary is done- and thanks to the ever wonderful HCat, it looks like I can even write! (Where would I be without her, I ask you?) That posts on Tuesday and I'll be sure to post a link for my legions of fans to follow. (yes, that's called sarcasm.)
I wrote more on the Five-O story I'm stumbling along through. I had to rip back a scene that after being greeted by the sound of crickets, I knew just had to go. Never be afraid to admit when something doesn't work right? And speaking of Five-O, I've been reading and watching all the opinions on Danny and Rachel and the "did he actually do THAT with Rachel?!?"- that being slept with his ex wife while she's still married to another man. I'm going to hold my opinion and thoughts until I see tomorrow's finale, when we know for sure if he's been carrying on with his ex-wife or something more innocent, like simply no longer hating each other so much. I'm just hoping that the writers paid attention to the character they've set up all season and don't totally screw it up, but we'll see, won't we? (It's not like they asked ME to write it- shame on them!) Then I can have a fun discussion (with myself) about character since that's what I love anyway.
Watched another ToD ep with HCat last night. I can never get enough of Myron, I swear. I'm still so in love with a Jewish chain smoking lieutenant from Queens in rumpled fatigues. Oy!
A group leader position was actually posted for the first time in two years where I work- in my department of Radiology. I'm sure this is due in part because I bitched (I heard the sharp intake of breath there, people, but every once in a while I do have a spine!) about the last promotion that happened a few months ago. I made it clear that it's hard to show interest when they DON'T POST the damn positions- but instead hand pick who they want. Anyway, I put in for it. Yeah, yeah, there you have it. Now I've got an eight question document I need to fill out with all the usual stupid questions of why I want it and what makes me the best qualified. God, I hate these things. I wrote it up this morning and sent it to HCat who can hopefully save my ass. Maybe if they did regular reviews, they wouldn't need to do the stupid questions, am I right?
Oh, walked 2.5 miles this morning. Why not three? Because it was pouring and I was soaked to the knees. I should get credit just for doing it.
Because I was having a supremely crummy week last week, the very sweet kare wrote a Hawaii Five-O fic for me. I just adore her and the story, like all her stories, is completely awesome so I wanted to share. She's dead on with Danny, who (if you haven't figured it out yet) is by far my favorite character.
She laments all the time that she's envious of those who write much longer fics- but she packs an awful lot of imagery in her pieces and this one is no exception.
So I'm sort of nosing around a bit on this one H5-O LJ I'm watching, and through some comments, made a new friend. (Big deal for me!) What's funny is I'm always reminded of just how small fandom is. Turns out she's a Tour of Duty fan from way back- how awesome is that? But the really fun part, we both know someone else- one of my first friends and contact in Tour of Duty.
As big as fandom gets and for some of these "communities" it's legion (I think H5-O is fast approaching that) it's always fun to bump into someone new who ends up knowing the same people you do. It makes this new fascination of mine a little more "homey" I guess is the word. For someone like me, who has only been associated and invested in one admittedly small fandom, it's nice.
I doubt any of this makes sense, but there you have it.
On a separate note, my sales for Lost and Found in November was a VAST improvement over October. I'm not in this to make money, but if I can't make sales, my press has no incentive to pick up any other novels of mine, no matter how well reviewed I might be. So I feel much better after having the legs knocked out from under me last month.
Still pushing forward on VN2, will definitely pass the 85K mark and then some. Right now I keep telling myself not to worry about that- write it and then go back and edit it down.
It's snowing in upstate NY. Big surprise. But, I can be thankful I don't live in Buffalo!
Hello sweet Qui-gon, right now I know you crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I loss also my Missy, my pet cat for 10 years. Losing her is so unacceptable, that's why I know how painful and hard to move on.…
Lovely baby blanket! I just finished a flannel receiving blanket for my brother and sister-in-law's great niece. I, too, am very slow at finishing things...I will get it almost done and then sit…
