[Spoiler (click to open)]I have always resisted the trend to refer to the Impala as "Baby" as if that were her name because, to my ears, it was always clear to me when Dean originally called her that, it was an endearment. She was Dean's baby and it was inappropriate, therefore, for anyone else to call her that.
However.
Having spent most of the latter part of the episode watching like this:
I confess I was heard, at one point, to wail "BABY!"
I blame you, Robbie Thompson. And all you other peeps on my flist who indulge in that ubiquitous fandom blasphemy. You know who you are. o_O (Actually it's probably nearly everyone but me, but being a minority of one never discouraged me before :P )

Lol. No. I think it's a great shame how much lore and "wackadoo exposition" was cut from subsequent seasons. I used to find it all fascinating. I guess the suits…
And is it ever mentioned again?
I wonder how far ahead the writers had planned at this point. The S1-S2 plot doesn't really work with…
