I’m Henk Overbeek — originally from the Netherlands, now living in Bulgaria.
Faces and Feelings is where photographs and words find each other. The camera arrives first, usually. A face, a place, light falling in an unexpected way. The writing follows — not to explain the image, but to let it breathe a little more.
The images on this site come from moving through life — encounters, experiences that find me as much as I find them. Sometimes planned, often unexpected. In small moments, without rushing toward a conclusion. The silence between heartbeats. The shutter clicks, and a moment that will never return in quite the same way is suddenly still — and in that stillness, something close to everything. A presence captured, and in the capturing already becoming past. A moment of space between nothingness and everythingness. The nature of things. Then the shutter closes, and the world moves on.
I also write longer-form personal essays at henkoverbeek.com — the same attention, a different mode of entry.
