In the last two months not much has changed regarding my view of supporting Apple with their way of interacting with the Trump-regime. I still believe that it’s wrong. In the past Apple has held their values over pure profit. Now, probably to avoid paying the taxes tariffs they do everything to be loved by Trump. That said…

I still like developing. I have developed a new Web-App that will be launched soon in Europe (it needs some users to provide value, therefore I will focus on launching it in my city first before advertising it wider). I still love using my own apps and I know that especially Up Next had some annoying bugs and performance issues. I’ve addressed those in some updates I’m just releasing. My current Developer Account is valid until beginning of April. I have decided to extend it for at least one more year.

I‘m quitting app development. In the last year Apple showed that the values I believed they were following are no longer valid. Tim Cook gave Trump a golden trophy, Apple donated to the demolition of the White House,… I don’t want to support a company acting like this any longer with my apps. I don’t want to pay the 99€ developer fee and I don’t want to put my apps in their App Store.

I started app development in 2009, got my first app in the Store in 2010. It was a fun ride. I tried out a lot, learned something new from each app I developed.

Please don’t expect any updates for my apps that are currently in the App Store. When my developer license runs out in April the apps will be gone. For most of my apps you can find the source code and build them yourself. I‘ll have a look into alternative distribution methods in the future.
