Expect Miracles in Boston 2024
On November 14, 2024, Expect Miracles Foundation [EMF] hosted Expect Miracles in Boston 2024, celebrating 20 years of this gala. The night, which took place at InterContinental Boston, brought together over 400 guests united by EMF’s mission to bring hope to the cancer community by investing in life-saving cancer research while advancing the financial and emotional health of those impacted by cancer. Themed Once Upon a Miracle, the event delivered a memorable evening filled with heartfelt speeches, exciting auctions, a record-breaking live appeal, and the announcement EMF was awarding $1 million to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and $525,000 in SAMFund grants to young adult cancer survivors.
Executive Director Frank Heavey and Event Co-Chairs Anne Hebard-Duduch of SS&C and Andy McFetridge of John Hancock Investment Management, warmly welcomed guests, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the financial services community’s unwavering support. Anne shared her gratitude for being a part of the EMF community throughout her career against the backdrop of her family’s personal cancer journey, while Andy reflected on his meaningful experiences as SAMFund Grant Reviewer, highlighting the profound impact of the Foundation’s work.
A Night of Inspiration and Reflection

In keeping with the evening’s theme, Frank Heavey entertained guests by reading, “Once Upon a Miracle,” which tells the story of how young Frank Strauss and a group of friends grew a small golf tournament 30 years ago into a thriving charity.
