Off the field, he gives back through the Trust Downs Foundation and was named a 2025-26 Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award winner.
Bio
Caleb Downs is entering the NFL as one of the most exciting defensive rookies after being selected 11th overall by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2026 NFL Draft. Downs concluded the 2025 season with one of the most decorated runs by a defensive player in recent college football history. A true junior, Downs earned unanimous All-America honors and was named Big Ten Tatum-Woodson Defensive Back of the Year his second consecutive season, also winning Big Ten Nagurski-Woodson Defensive Player of the Year, the Thorpe Award, and Lott IMPACT Trophy. As a sophomore, Downs was a cornerstone of Ohio State’s 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship team while continuing to emerge as the top defensive player in the country.
Downs versatility showed on every level of the defense and special teams, ranking second on the team in solo tackles (45) and delivering his personal best 11 tackles in “The Game” against Michigan. Prior to transferring to Ohio State in January 2024 following the retirement of Nick Saban, Downs burst onto the national scene at Alabama as a true freshman in 2023, earning AP All-America honors, First Team All-SEC, SEC Freshman of the Year, and the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award.
A Georgia native, Downs is deeply rooted in family, faith, and community, following in the footsteps of his older brother Josh, now a wide receiver with the Indianapolis Colts. Downs continues to use his growing national platform for good while giving back to those in need through his family’s Trust Downs Foundation and was named a 2025-26 Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award winner.
