I love doing SASSL campaigning. This one's theme was confronting myths about sexual assault. People came to the table and had to answer one true or false question related to sexual assault and then they'd get candy for participating.

All in all, it was a pretty successful campaign. I dressed up and looked kind of gothy and Morticia Addams-esque, because hey, halloween! :D

Happy halloween to everyone! Me, I plan on celebrating by handing out candy to little kids, and having an early night's sleep. Not really in a party animal mood this year. Of course, getting over a fever that's been on and off for the past couple of days and being sleep deprived might have something to do with that.

Victory is mine!

I finally got ahold of a copy of Wii Fit. :D This makes me a happy Lex. Sometimes I can motivate myself to go to the school gym...other times I feel crappy. Because of my dizziness and fainting issues, having a lot of exercise options that I can do at home in a relatively small space (my apartment really isn't very big at all) = a very good thing.

I also bought a set of 7 pound hand weights. I don't have a lot of upper body strength, so these are a good weight for building that up without it being too heavy. I could probably handle the 10 pound weights after a while but for now, there's certain exercises where they'd be too challenging.

Regular (as opposed to special events) SASSL hours start on the 14th - they were waiting on the new trainees for the year to complete their training. I've got MUCH better hours this year. 9:30-11:30am on Mondays and Wednesdays. 8:30am-12:30pm last year was not pleasant. Specifically, 8:30am was not pleasant. I'm not a morning person. Admittedly, it's just an hour difference, but that hour helps.

Yay for FanExpo 2008 and Avenue Q!

Yesterday was a good day. :D I didn't really do a lot at convention this year, but I still went for a day because hey, it's convention. Had fun, visited cutegoth at her con table, and picked up two plushies for $30 - for the two of them, not each. :D Grimmjow and Ulquiorra can officially hate at each other on my plushie shelf now.

Avenue Q was very good. ^_^ We were seated in row G, so we had a pretty decent view. Peter threw on his glasses, because his distance vision is worse than mine. It's a cute show. Definitely not something anybody should take small kids to - the humour is distinctly adult. I was especially amused by the bad idea bears, because they were so animated and hyper and filled with bad advice that they happily dispensed to some of the characters in the play.

I highly recommend Avenue Q....though I don't recommend it for people who are offended by swearing and adult humour. Most of the people on my friends list aren't offended by those things and would probably have a great time at the show. ^^

I'm volunteering with the Sexual Assault Survivors' Support Line again this year. I signed up for a couple of events and uh...wow. I'm seriously hoping more people volunteer because they've got me volunteering for 5 hours straight at one time and 6 hours at the other event. This isn't terrible - except you're talking to people the whole time and wow, I hope that for the 6 hour event, I'll be able to sneak away for lunch for 20 minutes at some point. I'll be bringing healthy snack food (chopped up fruit, maybe a wholegrain bagel) with me just in case, though.
I've been enjoying my free time so far. :D I've worked out a couple of times this week (including today), and yesterday I had Melissa and Nancy over for a visit.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the paid SASSL position that I applied for, though I'll be staying on as a volunteer. On the plus side, I got to find out nice and early, so if I get the health education job I applied for, I'll be able to say 'yes' without worrying about whether or not I got the SASSL job. The school gym will be hiring front desk people for the fall some time in July, so I'll know about the health education position before I look at applying for that. Then the library looks for applicants around the end of summer. I really just want an on-campus part time job.

I saw an ad for a place that's very close to the York campus that's hiring part-time people for data entry and answering phone calls, so I'm going to apply for that. I only have classes two days of the week. Granted, those two days, I have two three hour classes each day, and the evening classes finish at 10pm, so I'm not interested in working three 8 hour days. They did say that you can work 4 or 8 hour shifts, though.
So, I had my first SASSL training session today. It was a full day (10-6). There was about 30 or so volunteers there. They gave us food. We dealt with oppression and diversity training, cycle of abuse, and other things. Everyone was pretty nice.

This would have been significantly more enjoyable training without my cold. It has gotten worse. I spent most of last night awake with a cold sweat, and kept alternating from being too hot or too cold during the evening. I'm having some of the hot-cold thing today, too. Was stuffed up and coughing and sneezing at the training and I felt bad because it was noisy, but everyone was understanding.

Oh man I would love that too, lol! We could easily live on that. Just live pretty frugally and stretch it out. Never have to work again!

XD I'd love to win a million dollars, or failing that, have an easy part time job fall right into my lap, but looking at things realistically, they're going fairly well lately.
