Entries by tag: fainting

I'm considerably happier with the York bookstore's service today than I was the other day...mainly because they followed through on what they were going to do and called me to tell me I could come in and get the tag taken off today.

X_X I also fainted at the bookstore today while I was there, which sucked. One of the staff had just de-magnetized my hoodie, I said "thank you", and dropped. Bam. Down. Just like that. I am glad to say that regardless of the bureaucratic shortcomings of their store policies, they handle emergency situations really well. They got me water, they had someone calling 911 (until I came to mid-phonecall and said I didn't need/want an ambulance), they contacted campus security, and were quite helpful and nice about the whole thing.

O_o I have also learned that campus security should not be relied on for emergencies. They took 15 minutes to show up after being called and told that a student had just passed out. I tend to recover quickly enough to mostly function within about that time, so uh. Yeah. I waited around just long enough to let someone from security take down my information for an incident report, then walked home.

Today sucked. Today sucked a lot. X_X It's sad when work is amongst the better part of your day when it's just an average work day, but there you have it.

The day started off with me feeling crappy, but deciding to suck it up and deal with it. So I made myself go to work and spent the entire half hour walk to work staggering along. This is a scary place to be when you have to cross intersections where people drive like idiots. At one point, I almost did pass out on pavement right beside an intersection, and grabbed on to a lamppost to stablize myself.

What did restore my faith in humanity a little was the very kind couple who stopped and got out of their car to check on me. The husband of the pair actually was diabetic and had passed out before from it, so he recognized the signs and they were very kind people. The people behind them who were honking and being jackasses instead of just going around them, on the other hand...may they be stuck with explosive diarrhea in a crowded shopping mall with revoltingly unhygenic public bathrooms.

Work itself wasn't too bad. I did, however, hear the most auditorily displeasing accent I have ever heard in my life: the bastard lovechild of a thick and nasal Quebecois accent crossed with a thick Indian accent, speaking English. The customer himself was okay, but his voice was just...cringe worthy.

X_X Then there was later today when I was home from work and on the phone. My body decided it was high time that it had that fainting spell it wanted, and I not only fainted while on the phone, but as I was going down, I tripped over a case of water bottles, and I came to a few seconds later twisted in ways the body's not supposed to twist. My knee and back are now hurting like hell.

On a more positive note (because I want to add in some positivity to counter my whining), I have made some progress on my paper FINALLY. I still need to do more and it probably won't be tonight but at least I have some direction now and I've gotten over some of my inertia.

Urgh. I'm home sick today. I got a throbbing headache and nausea, and sound sensitivity, and I still don't feel quite right, but there is a massive thunderstorm going on outside right now.

I called and said I'd try to come into work today after I took something for my headache and laid down for a bit but I'm so out of it. Fuck. At least the thunderstorm may get rid of the worst of the humidity. And I can excuse myself from trying to walk to work while dizzy, headachey, nauseous, with it completely pouring outside.

I need to get my air conditioner installed ASAP. The old one is a good backup but it's not doing the job it needs to be doing right now. I've been fighting off a borderline migraine on and off since Tuesday.

Edit: ..well i ts' just as well i din'td go to wokr todya. I just f ainted a dn now i feel ilke crpa.

X_X Ugh. I had this scary...thing happen to me at the grocery store. Dizzy spells happen to me all the time. These are annoying but I've learned to deal with them just fine. Today, however, I got dizzy, I got majorly overheated, I got very nauseous and my body ached everywhere...at the grocery store. NOT FUN. I wound up sitting against a wall and feeling like I couldn't move for a couple of minutes before walking very slowly to the car.

At least I was with my dad at the time. This is one of those small perks of not being legally allowed to drive. I have no idea what I would have done if I was alone. I tend to do most of my grocery shopping when I visit my parents in Brampton so that I don't have to walk the 10-15 minute walk from the local grocery store to my apartment with those flimsy plastic bags.
On the plus side, my fainting spells are happening much less frequently lately than they used to. I'm averaging between once a week to once every two weeks. This is very good for someone who used to average three times a week.

On the down side, they're still happening and they're difficult to predict. I just fainted a few minutes ago and I was just about to walk down the stairs when I felt myself about to fall and just dug my heels into the ground and made sure to crumple my knees in such a away that I'd fall away from the stairs rather than down them. X__X

Managing my diet has helped a lot. I try to get exercise and eat small regular portions. I just wish I could make the problem go away entirely. I'm sick of re-injuring myself.

My chiropractor decided to be very, very cool and said she'd provide a free nutritional assessment so I can work on getting my diet as balanced as I can.

On another note entirely, I shake my fist in the general direction of lexkixass for giving me a Naruto idea that won't leave me alone. You have earned your "foul temptress" nickname, wench.

Oh man I would love that too, lol! We could easily live on that. Just live pretty frugally and stretch it out. Never have to work again!

XD I'd love to win a million dollars, or failing that, have an easy part time job fall right into my lap, but looking at things realistically, they're going fairly well lately.
