From June 2021 I work as senior policy analyst in the European Commission (EC) Joint Research Centre, as a member of the Research Ethics Board, the Strategic Foresight core team to the European Commission Vice President. I also represent the European Commission in ESPAS (Inter-institutional strategy and policy analysis structure) clustering 9 EU Institutions (Secretary General level).
From June 2017 to June 2021 I worked in the Science Advice Mechanism (EC Group of chef scientific advisors) to the EC President and College of EC Commissioners (Opinions on CCU, scientific advice for policy outcomes, plant protection, gene editing, energy, ageing, cancer screening etc.) , I also co-chaired the European Commission coordination group on science advice (24 DGs).
From September 2013 to April 2016 I worked in DG JRC with specific tasks on governance of ICT (ethics), TTIP and safe Harbour agreement, Internet Governance, big data with OECD.
From May to June 2015 I worked as Policy Advisor to the Slovene Prime Minister (EC Digital Market in Slovenia).
From 2012 to 2013 I worked as Chief of the Secretariat of the EC President's Science and Technology Advisory Council (STAC), chaired by A. Glover, and editor of the first STAC policy paper to the EC President (Science and society).
From April 2006 to April 2013 I worked (BEPA) as Political advisor to EC President, Mr Barroso (as Head EGE and Ethics of EU Policies sector). I lead the EGE secretariat in its work on stem cells, digital europe, CAP revision, synthetic biology, security technologies, food law revision, biosecurity, IPR, clinical trials, internet governance, data protection, energy mix etc. I also established and chaired the G20 - EU Ethics board forum, the European Commission coordination group on ethics and EU policies (21 Services) and the EU-US transatlantic platform on ethics and biometrics.
From 1998 to 2006 I worked in Directorate -General Research in the EC research program on Ethical, Legal and Social Aspects of R&D (FP4, FP5 and FP6), and from 2001 to 2006 as deputy Head of Unit (and HoU f.f.) on ethics of science in the Science and Society Program. I established the EU 27 forum of Member States' National Ethics Council.
I had several research, lecturing and institutional working activities on ethics of R&D in Europe, US, Japan.
I have authored more than 42 EC reports, 50 scientific papers, delivered worldwide key note speeches on governance of science and EU policies, represented the EC in major events of UN Agencies, Council of Europe and Int. Organisations
