He has been <a href=\"https:\/\/ethnicelebs.com\/tag\/president-of-colombia\">President of Colombia<\/a>, from 7 August, 2018 to 7 August, 2022. He was also a Senator of Colombia, from 20 July, 2014 to 10 April, 2018, and President pro tempore of PROSUR, from 12 December, 2020 to 27 January, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>His mother, Juliana M\u00e1rquez Tono, is a political scientist. His father, Iv\u00e1n Duque Escobar, was a lawyer, journalist, and politician, who was governor of Antioquia, Minister of Mines and Energy, and head of the National Registry of Civil Status. President Duque is married to Mar\u00eda Juliana &#8220;Maju&#8221; Ruiz Sandoval, with whom he has three children.<\/p>\n<p>President Duque&#8217;s paternal grandfather was Abd\u00f3n Duque Villegas (the son of Genaro Duque Monsalve and Ana Rosa Villegas Celis). Genaro was the son of Abd\u00f3n Duque and Rosa Monsalve G\u00f3mez. Ana Rosa was the daughter of Juan Nepomuceno Villegas Ram\u00edrez and Paulina Celis Montoya.<\/p>\n<p>President Duque&#8217;s paternal grandmother was Carolina Escobar San\u00edn (the daughter of Ricardo Escobar Jaramillo and Eva San\u00edn Arango). Ricardo was the son of Daniel Escobar Ruiz and Mercedes Jaramillo \u00c1lvarez. Eva was the daughter of Ricardo San\u00edn Cambas and Beatriz Arango Cadavid.<\/p>\n<p>President Duque&#8217;s maternal grandfather was Hernando M\u00e1rquez Arbel\u00e1ez (the son of Adolfo M\u00e1rquez Villegas and Mar\u00eda Arbel\u00e1ez V\u00e9lez). Hernando was born in Ibagu\u00e9, Tolima. Adolfo was the son of Anc\u00edzar M\u00e1rquez Ceballos and Mar\u00eda Dolores Faustina Villegas Gonz\u00e1lez. President Duque&#8217;s great-grandmother Mar\u00eda was the daughter of Jes\u00fas Arbel\u00e1ez Echeverri and In\u00e9s V\u00e9lez Upegui.<\/p>\n<p>President Duque&#8217;s maternal grandmother was Stella Tono Caicedo (the daughter of Antonio Tono de la Espriella and Mar\u00eda de la Luz Caicedo Buenaventura). Stella was born in Cartagena, Bol\u00edvar. Antonio was the son of Augusto Tono Mac\u00eda and Rosa de la Espriella Abad\u00eda.
