C\u00e9line Dion is a Canadian singer, songwriter, businessperson, and actress. Her songs include “Ne partez pas sans moi,” “The Power of Love,” “Think Twice,” “Because You Loved Me,” “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” “I’m Your Angel,” “I’m Alive,” and Titanic<\/em>‘s “My Heart Will Go On.” Her “A New Day… on the Las Vegas Strip” was the highest-grossing concert residency of all time. She is the best-selling Canadian recording artist, and the best-selling French-language artist, with record sales of over 200 million. She is known as the “Queen of Power Ballads” and the “Queen of Adult Contemporary.”<\/p>\n

C\u00e9line is French-Canadian, and has released albums in French and English. She is the daughter of Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Tanguay-Dion, a television personality, known as “Maman Dion,” and Adh\u00e9mar-Charles Dion. She grew up in poverty in Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n

She was raised Roman Catholic. C\u00e9line was married to singer and manager Ren\u00e9 Ang\u00e9lil<\/a>, until his death, with whom she has three children.<\/p>\n

C\u00e9line’s paternal grandfather was Joseph Charles Ad\u00e9lard Dion (the son of Ad\u00e9lard Dion and Esther L\u00e9vesque). Joseph was born in Ste-Anne-des-Monts, Gasp\u00e9, Qu\u00e9bec. C\u00e9line’s great-grandfather Ad\u00e9lard was the son of Joseph Dion and Marcelline L\u00e9tourneau. Esther was the daughter of Jean Baptiste L\u00e9vesque and Marguerite Vall\u00e9e\/Vallie.<\/p>\n

C\u00e9line’s paternal grandmother was Marie Ernestine Bariault\/Barriault (the daughter of Norbert Bariault\/Barriault and Alma Pelletier). Marie Ernestine was born in Les M\u00e9chins, Qu\u00e9bec. Norbert was the son of Jean-Baptiste B\u00e9riault\/Barriault and Marie Philom\u00e8ne Isabelle. Alma was the daughter of Amable Pelletier and C\u00e9lina Beaulieu. Amable’s maternal great-great-great-great-grandfather, Jo\u00e3o Rodriguez, or Jean Rodrigue in French, was Portuguese; from Lisbon.<\/p>\n

C\u00e9line’s maternal grandfather was Laur\u00e9at Achille Tanguay (the son of Achille Tanguay and Marie Malvina Parent). Laur\u00e9at was born in Charlesbourg, Qu\u00e9bec. C\u00e9line’s great-grandfather Achille was the son of Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Tanguay and Ang\u00e9lique Bernard. Marie Malvina was the daughter of Antoine Parent and Marcelline Auclair. Ang\u00e9lique’s paternal great-great-great-great-grandfather, Pedro da Silva, or Pierre Dassylva in French, was Portuguese; from Lisbon.<\/p>\n

C\u00e9line’s maternal grandmother was Antoinette Sergerie (the daughter of Joseph Gustave Sergerie and Marie Ad\u00e8le Gagn\u00e9 dite Bellavance). Antoinette was born in Saint-Norbert, Qu\u00e9bec. Joseph was the son of Firmin Sergerie Saint-Jorre and Marie Bibiane Isabelle. C\u00e9line’s great-grandmother Marie Ad\u00e8le was the daughter of Joseph Gagn\u00e9 and \u00c9milie St Laurent\/Saint-Laurent.<\/p>\n
