Vinícius Júnior, also known simply as Vinícius and Vini, Jr., is a Brazilian professional footballer. A forward and left winger, he plays for Real Madrid, and the Brazil national team. He was previously with Flamengo and Real Madrid B.

His ancestry was traced through a DNA test, conducted as part of the Brazilian Football Confederation’s “Golden Roots”/”Raízes de Oro” initiative, a project aimed at connecting African-Brazilians with their ancestral roots in Africa. The DNA analysis stated that Vinícius’s maternal roots lie with the Tikar people of Cameroon, in Central Africa.
