Ronaldinho, also known as Ronaldinho Gaúcho, is a Brazilian professional footballer. An attacking midfielder and left winger, he played for Grêmio, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, AC Milan, Flamengo, Atlético Mineiro, Querétaro, and Fluminense, and the Brazil national team and Brazil Olympic (O.P.). He is also known as “O Bruxo”/The Wizard.

He is the son of Miguelina Eloí Assis dos Santos and João da Silva Moreira, a footballer for local club Esporte Clube Cruzeiro. Aside from Brazilian, he became a Spanish citizen in 2007.

Ronaldinho has a son, professional footballer João Mendes, with his former partner, dancer Janaína Mendes.

Ronaldinho’s paternal grandfather was Dorival Fernandes Moreira (the son of Garibaldi Fernandes Moreira and Carolina Ignácia da Silveira). Dorival was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. Garibaldi was born in Porto Alegre, the son of Francisco Fernandes Moreira, whose paternal grandfather was born in Lisbon, Portugal; and of Maria Mendes Ouriques de Lima, whose paternal grandparents were from Terceira, Azores, Portugal. Ronaldinho’s great-grandmother Carolina was born in Rio Grande do Sul, the daughter of João Ignácio da Silveira and Maria Luiza Gerling, whose father was born in Wismar, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany, and whose maternal grandparents were also German, with roots in Hesse.

Ronaldinho’s paternal grandmother was Albertina Teixeira da Silva (the daughter of João Teixeira da Silva and Cecilia Maria de Jesus). Albertina was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. João was born in Gravataí, Rio Grande do Sul, the son of Vicente Leonor De Vargas and Eva Teixeira De Souza. Ronaldinho’s great-grandmother Cecilia was born in Gravataí, the daughter of Maria Felisberta de Jesus.

Ronaldinho’s maternal grandfather was Ervino de Assis (the son of Alexandre Francisco de Assis and Idalina Maria da Conceição). Ervino was born in Vera Cruz, Rio Grande do Sul. Alexandre was born in Rio Grande do Sul, the son of Jacinto Guedes and Eva da Conceição. Ronaldinho’s great-grandmother Idalina was born in Vera Cruz.

Ronaldinho’s maternal grandmother was Eva Maria Conceição da Silva (the daughter of Leodoro Antonio da Silva and Justina Luiza da Silva). Eva was born in Vera Cruz, Rio Grande do Sul. Leodoro was born in Bexiga, Rio Pardo, Rio Grande do Sul, the son of Ambrosio da Silva and Maria Eva.
