Andrew, I was surprised to learn it wasn’t anglicized. It actually is a common Korean surname.
Oh, no. Not only is it Anglicized, it’s also a Romanization. And the Romanization from the original Hangul and Hanja is usually “Bak” and less often “Pak.” And it’s “Pak” that English adopted and then Anglicized.
