Pete Burns was a British singer, songwriter, and television personality. He was vocalist and songwriter for pop band Dead or Alive, who are known for their 1985 single “You Spin Me Round.” He also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2006.
Pete was the son of Evelina “Eva” Maria Bettina (Quittner) Von Hudec and Francis Burns. His father was British. His mother was born in Heidelberg, Germany. Pete had said that his mother was of half Jewish ancestry, through her own father. Pete’s mother left Nazi Germany after Hitler’s government imposed anti-Semitic laws upon the country. She met Pete’s father, who was Scottish, in Vienna, Austria, where he was a soldier in the British Armed Forces.
Pete was married to Michael Simpson, until his death.
Pete’s maternal grandfather was Hugo Quittner (the son of Jonas Johann/Jan Quittner and Eveline/Elvine “Eva” Röger). Hugo was born in Studénka, Nový Jičín, Czechia, to a Jewish family. Jonas was born in Uherský Brod, Uherské Hradiště, Czechia. Eveline was the daughter of Charlotte Weiss/Weisz.
Pete’s maternal grandmother was named Maria. Maria was German.

I’ll add that the surname von Hudec comes from Pete’s mother’s first husband, Baron Friedel von Hudec.
Pete writes:
“my dad was obviously patriotic and he wanted his son [Pete’s brother] to be born under the English flag.”
Was his dad really Scottish? What did that source originally say?
Couldn’t find a source about his father being Scottish
It could come from the liverpoolmusic.org source that can’t be accessed anymore.
why was English changed to British?
His father probably was of Irish or part Irish descent, given the surname “Burns”.
