Patrick’s paternal grandmother was Georgia Lee Marsh (the daughter of George Wilburn Marsh Jr. and Mayme Eura Welch). Georgia was born in Tonkowa, Oklahoma, and had deep lines in America. George was the son of George Wilburn Marsh and Margaret Frances Fitzpatrick, whose parents were Irish. Mayme was the daughter of Ollie Ethner Welch and John Ann Brooks.

In this 1900s census Ollie Ethner Welch, John Ann Brooks and their son John Oliver are listed as “Indian”.

Latter they are listed as white in other documents. I think Ollie Ethner Welch was white, as his family is well documented and listed as such in all records. On the other hand, John Ann Brooks was enrolled as “Choctaw” in this naturalization record (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XVCT-FX9?lang=en), and enrolled her daughter, Patrick’s great-grandmother, Mayme Eura Welch here (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6251-3QH3?lang=en).

Also, John Ann Brooks does not appear in any records with her family previous 1898, and I wasn’t able to find her parents. Maybe she was born and grew up in an Indian Reservation or something like that, and the government records didn’t reach her family… this is my speculation.

So, Patrick is about 1/16 Choctaw Native American if this is the case.
