Lilli Palmer was a German actress and writer. She began acting in British films in the 1930s. Her roles included the films Sunset in Vienna, The Door with Seven Locks, Cloak and Dagger (1946), Body and Soul (1947), No Minor Vices, Wicked City, The Story of Anastasia, Between Time and Eternity, The Night of the Storm, Glass Tower, The Lovers of Montparnasse, But Not for Me, The Pleasure of His Company, The Last of Mrs. Cheyney, Dark Journey, Operation Crossbow, The House That Screamed, Murders in the Rue Morgue (1971), and The Boys from Brazil (1978); and the mini-series Peter the Great.

Lilli was the daughter of Rosa “Rose” Lissman/Lissmann, a stage actress, and Dr. Alfred Peiser, a surgeon. Her parents were Jewish. Her father was born in Poznań/Posen. Her mother was born in Koblenz. Her sister was Austrian-born actress and writer Irene Prador. Lilli left Germany in 1933, because of the Nazis. She was married to Argentinian actor Carlos Thompson, until her death. Lilli had a son, novelist and dramatist Carey Harrison, with her former husband, actor Rex Harrison.

Lilli’s paternal grandfather was Samuel Peiser (the son of Louis/Leib Peiser and Henriette/Jette Warschauer). Samuel was born in Posen. Louis was born in Posen, the son of Aron Abraham Peiser and Hannchen Sara Pincus. Henriette was born in Posen, the daughter of Sara Posner.

Lilli’s paternal grandmother was Marie Posener/Posner (the daughter of Aharon Posener/Posner and Julia Misch). Marie was born in Samter, Posen. Aharon was the son of Sara. Julia was born in Posen, the daughter of Salomon Misch and Rosalie Henriette.

Lilli’s maternal grandfather was Hermann Lissmann/Lißmann (the son of Lessmann Lissmann/Lißmann and Johanna Abraham). Hermann was born in Arenberg, Koblenz, Germany, to a father from Falkenstein.

Lilli’s maternal grandmother was Julie Kallmann (the daughter of Simon Kallmann and Henriette/Jette Moses). Julie was born in Wollendorf, Neuwied, Germany. Simon was born in Wollendorf, the son of Wolf Kallmann and Juliana/Zerline Loeb/Löb. Lilli’s great-grandmother Henriette was born in Urbach-Kirchdorf, Puderbach, the daughter of Abraham Moses and Johana/Hana Lazarus.
