June Allyson was an American stage, film, and television actress, dancer, and singer. Her roles included the films Ups and Downs, Best Foot Forward, Girl Crazy (1943), Thousands Cheer, Two Girls and a Sailor, Meet the People, Music for Millions, Her Highness and the Bellboy, The Sailor Takes a Wife, Two Sisters from Boston, Till the Clouds Roll By, The Secret Heart, High Barbaree, Good News (1947), The Bride Goes Wild, The Three Musketeers, Words and Music (1948), Little Women (1949), The Stratton Story, The Reformer and the Redhead, Right Cross, Too Young to Kiss, The Girl in White, Battle Circus, Remains to Be Seen, The Glenn Miller Story, Executive Suite, Woman’s World, Strategic Air Command, The Shrike (1955), The McConnell Story, The Opposite Sex (1956), You Can’t Run Away from It, Interlude (1957), My Man Godfrey, A Stranger in My Arms, They Only Kill Their Masters, Blackout (1978), and A Girl, Three Guys, and a Gun; the made-for-tv movies Letters from Three Lovers, Curse of the Black Widow, Three on a Date, and The Kid with the Broken Halo; and the shows The Dick Powell Theatre and The Love Boat. June was the daughter of Clara Josephine and Robert Henry J. Geisman. Her father was born in Roanoke, Virginia, to German parents. Her mother was born in New York.

She was married to dentist and actor David Ashrow, until her death. She was previously married to singer, actor, filmmaker, and studio head Dick Powell, until his death, with whom she had two children.

June’s paternal grandfather was named Henry/Harry Geismann/Geisman. Henry was born in Ahsen, Prussia.
