Jonathan Roumie is an American actor. He plays Jesus in the crowd-funded series and films about the birth of Christianity, The Chosen. He has also starred as evangelist Lonnie Frisbee in the film Jesus Revolution, and appeared on the shows Celebrity Deathmatch and As the World Turns and in the films Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again and Solo Milo.

His father is from Egypt, from Cairo. His mother was raised on a farm in Ireland. His paternal grandfather was from Syria, and Jonathan has also stated that he has Armenian ancestry on his father’s side.

Jonathan was baptized in the Greek Orthodox Church, and later converted to Catholicism. He has been a ministry leader, an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion within the Catholic Church, and a vice president on the boards of non-profit media companies Catholics in Media Associates and G.K. Chesterton Theatre Company.
