Jeff Kent is an American professional baseball player. A second baseman, he played for the Toronto Blue Jays, the New York Mets, the Cleveland Indians, the San Francisco Giants, the Houston Astros, and the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He holds the most home runs of any second baseman in the history of MLB. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2026.

Jeff is married to Dana, with whom he has four children, including Colton and Kaeden, who have played college baseball. He is a member of the LDS (Mormon) church.

Kent’s paternal grandfather was Arvan Franklin Kent (the son of Franklin Lavern Kent and Ida Laverne Pennington). Franklin was the son of Albert Franklin Kent and Annie L. Hudson. Jeff’s great-grandmother Ida was the daughter of Arden Caleb Pennington and Margaret Carrie Whipple. Ida was beaten to death by her son, Elvin Kent.

Kent’s paternal grandmother was Madeline Jane Orr (the daughter of William Theodore Orr and Marion Francis Fairchild). Madeline was born in Detroit, Michigan.

Kent’s maternal grandfather’s surname was Welker.
