Jansen Panettiere was an American actor. His roles included the films Racing Stripes, Robots (2005), Ice Age: The Meltdown, The Babysitters, The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry, The Perfect Game, The Lost Medallion: The Adventures of Billy Stone, The Forger (2012), Summer Forever, and The Martial Arts Kid; the shows Blue’s Clues and The X’s; and the made-for-tv movies Tiger Cruise, The Last Day of Summer, and How High 2.

He was the son of Alan Panettiere, a captain in the New York City Fire Department, and Lesley R. Vogel, an actress. He was the brother of actress, model, singer, and activist Hayden Panettiere.

His mother was of half Italian descent. His other roots included German, English, and distant Welsh and Scottish. His surname, Panettiere, is also Italian; his family pronounced it pan-a-teery, and it means “baker” in Italian. Jansen’s Italian-American paternal step-grandfather, Dominick N. Panettiere, married his grandmother in the early 1960s, and adopted Jansen’s father.

Jansen’s sister Hayden had said:

My mom is from Kentucky and my [paternal] grandmother is from Corpus Christi, so I had a better understanding of the South than the average person moving from New York. At my core, this is the kind of person I am and want to be. I like being in a place where people appreciate the little things and don’t need a lot of stuff to be happy. You can put a group of Southerners in any scenario and they’ll have a good time.

Jansen’s adoptive paternal grandfather Dominick N. Panettiere was the son of Donato/Daniel Panettieri/Panettiere and Jacomina/Jaicomina Signorile. Dominick was born in New York, to Italian parents. Donato was born in Altamura, Bari, the son of Carlo Panettieri and Leonarda Oliva.

Jansen’s biological paternal grandfather was surnamed Gammel.

Jansen’s paternal grandmother was Nann Nix Boland (the daughter of Joseph Edmond Boland and Elva Irene Cavnor/Cavnar). Nann was born in Texas. Joseph was born in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, the son of David Edmond Boland and Margaret May/Mae/Maye “Maggie” Fondren. Jansen’s great-grandmother Elva was born in Skiatook, Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jack Woodson Cavnar and Mona Louise Parsons.

Jansen’s maternal grandfather was John Leslie Vogel (the son of John Raymond Vogel and Elizabeth Francis Long). Jansen’s grandfather John was born in Kentucky. Jansen’s great-grandfather John was the son of John J. Vogel and Anna F. Miller, who were the children of German parents. Jansen’s great-grandmother Elizabeth was the daughter of Leslie Preston Long and Hulda Frances Bessie Wilson, who had English ancestry.

Jansen’s maternal grandmother was Eunice B. “Tam” Latty (the daughter of Salvino/Salvin Frank Latty and Rose/Rosyln L. Shaw). Eunice was born in Maine, to Italian parents. Rose was the daughter of Joseph Shaw and Maria/Mary Pagoni.
