Ioan Gruffudd is a Welsh actor. His roles include the films Titanic, 102 Dalmatians, King Arthur (2004), Fantastic Four, Amazing Grace (2006), W. (2008), Fireflies in the Garden, and San Andreas, and television’s Hornblower films and series Ringer, Forever, and Harrow.

He is the son of Gillian and Peter Gruffudd/Griffiths. Ioan is married to Bianca Wallace. He has two children with his former wife, actress Alice Evans; and a daughter with Bianca. His name, Ioan Gruffudd, is the Welsh language version of John Griffith. Ioan is fluent in Welsh.

Ioan’s paternal grandfather was Willie/Willis Glanmor Griffiths/Gruffudd (the son of Edwin Griffiths and Alice Jones). Willie was born in Llannon, Carmarthenshire. Edwin was born in Llannon, the son of David Shadrach Griffiths and Ann Jones. Ioan’s great-grandmother Alice was born in Llannon, the daughter of John Jones and Mariah/Maria Williams.

Ioan’s paternal grandmother was Esther Eiry Richards (the daughter of William Richards and Frances Jones). Eiry was born in Llangendeirne, Carmarthenshire. William was born in Llangendeirne, the son of John Richards and Jane Daniel. Frances was born in Carmarthenshire.
