He was assistant manager, then interim manager, at Santos; and managed Inter de Limeira, Figueirense, Ferroviária, and Náutico.

Elano’s surname is German. He also holds an Italian passport. He is married to Alexandra, with whom he has two children. Elano is a practising Catholic.
