Dorothy Stratten was a Canadian model and actress. She was Playboy Playmate of the Month for August 1979, and Playboy Playmate of the Year for 1980. She starred in the films Galaxina and They All Laughed.

Her parents, Peternella Schaap “Nelly” (Fuchs) and Simon Hoogstraten, were Dutch. Her father was born in Leiden, South Holland. Her mother was born in Nijmegen, Nijmegen Municipality, Gelderland. She was married to nightclub promoter and pimp Paul Snider, who murdered her before committing suicide.

Her life and murder were depicted in the film Star 80.

Dorothy’s maternal grandfather was Hendrik Fuchs (the son of Jan Fuchs and Susanna Robijn). Hendrik was born in Leiden, South Holland, Netherlands. Jan was born in Leiden, the son of Samuel Fuchs, whose paternal grandfather was from Elgg, Zürich, Switzerland, of Swiss-German descent; and of Sara Schouten. Dorothy’s great-grandmother Susanna was born in Leiden, the daughter of Cornelis Robijn and Cornelia Leget.

Dorothy’s maternal grandmother was Petronella Adriana Schaap (the daughter of Willem Schaap and Johanna Wilhelmina Leget). Petronella was born in Leiden, South Holland, Netherlands. Willem was born in Katwijk, South Holland, the son of Willem Schaap and Petronella Adriana de Kleijn. Dorothy’s great-grandmother Johanna was born in Leiden, the daughter of Bartholomeus Leget and Maria Christina Erades.
