Don Felder is an American musician and songwriter. He is the lead guitarist for rock band Eagles. Other members of the group include/have included Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, Randy Meisner, Timothy B. Schmit, and Joe Walsh, as well as Glenn’s son Deacon Frey.
Don is the son of Doris Rebecca (Brigman) and Charles Nolan Felder. Don’s Felder line can be traced back to Hans Heinrich Felder, a Swiss-German immigrant who settled in South Carolina in the 1700s. Don’s daughter, Leah Jenner, is also a musician. Leah was half of indie pop duo Brandon & Leah, with her former husband, musician Brandon Jenner (who is the son of Caitlyn Jenner and Linda Thompson).
Don’s paternal grandfather was Hampton Henry Felder (the son of James Addison Felder and Flavilla Newell Shuler). Hampton was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina. James was born in Orangeburg. His father, James/Jacob Felder, had three grandparents who were Swiss-German, with roots in Wattwil, Sankt Gallenm; Guttannen, Bern; and Altnau, Thurgau; and a paternal grandmother who was from Waldmohr, Landkreis Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. James’s mother, Don’s great-great-grandmother, was Rachel Rebecca Rush. Don’s great-grandmother Flavilla was born in South Carolina, the daughter of Henry W. Shuler and Rachel L. Rush.
Don’s paternal grandmother was Annie Elizabeth Griffin (the daughter of Jessie I. Griffin and Mary L. Grissett). Annie was born in Florida. The surname Griffin can be Irish. Mary was born in Alabama, the daughter of Joseph Grissett and Piercy Jones.
Don’s maternal grandfather was Thomas Jefferson Brigman, Jr. (the son of Thomas Jefferson Brigman, Sr. and Rebecca King). Don’s grandfather Thomas was born in Dublin, Laurens, Georgia. Don’s great-grandfather Thomas was born in Rockingham, Richmond, North Carolina, the son of John Washington Brigman and Martha Coward. Don’s great-grandmother Rebecca was born in Brunswick County, North Carolina, the daughter of George Manning King and Frances Caroline Flowers.
Don’s maternal grandmother was Amanda Caroline “Carrie” Swain (the daughter of Levi Bonaparte Swain, Jr. and Frances Ann King). Carrie was born in Georgia. Levi was born in Town Creek, Brunswick, North Carolina, the son of Levi Bonaparte Swain and Mary Amanda Sellers. Don’s great-grandmother Frances was born in Lockwoods Folly Twp., Brunswick, the daughter of George Manning King and Frances Caroline Flowers. Don’s maternal grandparents were first cousins.
