Desi Arnaz was a Cuban-born American actor, musician, bandleader, comedian, and film and television producer. He is known for starring on the show I Love Lucy, with his then-wife, actress and comedian Lucille Ball, and for the films Too Many Girls (also with Lucy), Four Jacks and a Jill, and The Navy Comes Through.

He was the son of Dolores “Lolita” de Acha y de Socias and Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y Alberni II, who served as Mayor of Santiago de Cuba, and was also in the Cuban House of Representatives. His family moved to Miami, Florida, U.S., after the 1933 Cuban Revolution, which installed the Pentarchy of 1933.

Desi was married to Edith (McSkimming), until his death. He had two children, actors and musicians Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz, Jr., with Lucille Ball.

Desi’s paternal grandfather was Dr. Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y Alberni (the son of Manuel Arnaz and Dolores Vera y Portes). Desiderio was a Cuban doctor, who was assigned to Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders during the Spanish-American War. Manuel was born in Cantabria, Spain, the son of Luis Martinez Arnaz and Maria Francisca Cóbreces de Seles/Francisca Rosa Maria Guadalupede Cóbreces de la Riva.

Desi’s paternal grandmother was named Dolores Vera y Portes Arnaz. Dolores was the great-granddaughter of José Joaquín Portuondo y Rizo, 1st Conde de Santa Inés, who was Mayor of Santiago de Cuba.

Desi’s maternal grandfather was named Alberto de Acha.

Desi’s maternal grandmother was surnamed de Socías.
