Demi Moore is an American actress, model, filmmaker, and songwriter. One of the biggest stars of the 1990s, her roles include the films Parasite 3D (1982), Blame It on Rio, No Small Affair, St. Elmo’s Fire, About Last Night… (1986), One Crazy Summer, The Seventh Sign, We’re No Angels (1989), Ghost, Nothing but Trouble, Mortal Thoughts, The Butcher’s Wife, A Few Good Men, Indecent Proposal, Disclosure, The Scarlet Letter, Now and Then (1995), The Juror, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Striptease (1996), G.I. Demi is the daughter of Beverley/Beverly Virginia (King) and Charles Foster Harmon, a U.S. Air Force airman. Her father had left Demi’s mother before Demi was born. Demi was raised by her mother and stepfather, Dan Guynes, a newspaper advertising salesman. The family moved frequently. Demi has three children with her former husband, actor Bruce Willis, including actress Rumer Willis. Her surname is from her first husband, musician Freddy Moore.

Most of Demi’s recent ancestors were born in the U.S., specifically, for the most part, the American South, with many of her traceable foreign-born ancestors being English and Scottish.

Demi is a follower of Kabbalah.

Demi’s paternal grandfather was Clarence Lamar Harmon (the son of Jessie Polk Harmon and Sallie Pearl Dean). Clarence was born in LaGrange, Troup, Georgia. Jessie was born in Georgia, the son of James Knox Polk Harmon and Louesa Clementine Owen. Sallie was born in Heard, Georgia, the daughter of William Franklin Dean and Mary Jane Reid.

Demi’s paternal grandmother was Ruth Minnie Compton (the daughter of Russell David Compton and Ora Lee Yarbrough). Ruth was born in Lanett, Chambers, Alabama. Russell was born in Sumter, Georgia, the son of William B. Compton and Barbara Ann Bray. Ora was born in Lanett, Chambers, Alabama, the daughter of Wiley P. Yarbrough and Mary Elizabeth Webb.

Demi’s maternal grandfather was William Marshall “Bill” King (the son of Edmond McDowell/McDonald King and Blanche Marie Campbell). William was born in Texas, or in Johnston County, Oklahoma. Edmond was born in Denton, Texas, the son of Dock Marshall King and Mary H. Hilliard. Blanche was born in Nevaro, Texas, the daughter of John Anderson Campbell and Ida Mae Carr.

Demi’s maternal grandmother was Elizabeth Marie Metcalf (the daughter of John Carrol Metcalf and Effie May Graves). Elizabeth was born in Elida, Roosevelt, New Mexico, and was raised on a farm. John was born in Oklahoma, the son of William Warner Metcalf, Jr. and Martha Catherine Gunn. Effie was born in Tussy, Carter, Oklahoma, the daughter of George Aaron Graves and Elizabeth “Bettie” Childers/Childress.
