David Byrne is a Scottish-born American singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, artist, actor, writer, music theorist, and filmmaker. He was the lead singer and guitarist of new wave band Talking Heads. Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison, and Tina Weymouth were also members of the band.
David is the son of Emily “Emma” Anderson (Brown) and Thomas Byrne. His parents were from Glasgow. David’s father was Catholic and his mother was Protestant. Catholics in Scotland usually have Irish ancestry, and David’s surname, Byrne, is often Irish. His maternal grandparents lived in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland.
At the age of two, David moved with his family to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and then to Arbutus, Maryland, U.S., around 1961. He lives in New York City.
David has a daughter with his former wife, costume designer, model, and actress Adelle Lutz. Adelle is the maternal aunt of actress and model China Chow.
David’s maternal grandfather was named William “Willie” Brown.
David’s maternal grandmother was named Sarah.

Dark? Quite the contrary I think. Apart from his hair (when younger) and eyes, he is very pale.
It is already mentioned that his father was Catholic. Now, given that fact, is it more likely that a Catholic man from Scotland with a most often Irish surname has Irish (Catholic) or Jewish ancestry?

He still has olive skin because of his Mediterranean blood — it’s like Asian people: they’re pale until they get some sun. Both have olive skin, unlike someone who’s 100% Anglo, who can’t tan the same way. Dark Irish are descendants of Spaniards, which is why, since he has olive skin, dark hair, and eyes, people like that used to be called “dark” in America in the last century
Irish are not descendants of Spanish. This has been debunked years ago. Just looking at a genetic plot will dispel this but even looking at a Wikipedia article on the Irish will state that the Irish are not descendants of the Spanish whether they are “dark” or not. Every population will have a variety in looks. Yes even Scandinavians. Trying to explain Europeans having darker complexions by claiming they descend from Spanish is the same as claiming that all blonds descend from Vikings. Just look up some recent genetic studies on the topic or even just look at where populations plot if you don’t want to read the studies.
Yeah, this constant old wives tale of some major genetic exchange between the British Isles and the Iberian Peninsula needs to die, already. The same people that found their way to Ireland also found their way to Spain long, long time ago. That’s about the extent of the genetic connection, not some relatively recent genetic exchange or migration from Spain to the Isles.
The Brits and the Irish are the first who still believe it and state it… why they need to fantasize to be such ugly race?
Lol this color belongs to the Arabs in fact he has pale skin like the Meds, never been olive for all his life.
Ya need glasses.
@zovbiw
He’s awesome! I loved his daughter in ‘Gifted’
You’re a troll.
Byrne is a typical Irish surname. About his alleged “darkness”, get over it.
you look like a cross between Ed Skrein and Yul Brynner, everyone knows that here
Correct Andrew, and Neil Tennant’s mother looks distinctly like Sarah Palin.
black hair, blond beard, pale skin, we all know that.
oh…and the nose job too
