Daveigh Chase was an American actress, singer, model, and voice actress. She voiced Lilo Pelekai in the film Lilo & Stitch (2002), and its sequels, Stitch! The Movie and Leroy & Stitch; as well as on Lilo & Stitch: The Series, and in the video games Disney’s Lilo & Stitch and Lilo & Stitch: Trouble in Paradise. Her roles also included the films Donnie Darko, Spirited Away, Samara Morgan in The Ring (2002), Carolina (2003), Beethoven’s 5th, the sequel S. Darko; Yellow (2012), Little Red Wagon, Jack Goes Home, and American Romance; the series Fillmore!, Oliver Beene, Big Love, and Betsy’s Kindergarten Adventures; the made-for-tv movies The Rats (2002) and Killer Crush; the video game Let It Die; and the short film Haunted Lighthouse 3D. She was also billed as Daveigh Elizabeth Chase.
Daveigh was the daughter of Cathy Chase and John Schwallier. She was partly raised in Albany, in the Willamette Valley, Oregon.
Daveigh’s paternal grandfather was Jerry Hart Schwallier (the son of John William Schwallier, Jr. and Anna Bell/Belle Thurman). Jerry was born in Kentucky. John was born in Kentucky, the son of John Chevelier Schwallier, who was born in France; and of Catherine/Katherine/Catharina B. Koehler/Koewler, who was an ethnic German, from Alsace, France. Daveigh’s great-grandmother Anna was born in Kentucky, the daughter of Henry Clay/Clayton Thurman and Cora Angeline/Angelina Hogg.
Daveigh’s paternal grandmother was named Viola Annuziata Cangialosi (the daughter of Anna). Viola was born in Tripoli, Libya, to Italian parents.
Daveigh’s maternal grandfather was Basil Terry Chase (the son of Millard Burke Chase and Nora Elizabeth Bennett). Daveigh’s grandfather Basil was born in Cleveland, Bradley County, Tennessee. This one really hits hard. She was strikingly gorgeous. Had a crush on her when I was younger and she aged to be such a gorgeous woman. I used to have a classmate that looked just like Daveigh but with natural blonde hair, she had the same hooded bright blue eyes, button nose, full lips and round cheeks. She was half german and danish if I remember correctly
Yes. She was probably a Top 5 most beautiful actresses in her early 20s, she was also amazingly talented and by all accounts very, very sweet and generous. It’s unbelievable and revolting how she was treated by the industry, they basically ditched her right after she became an adult in the early 2010s, and then she started an irreversible downward spiral.
I’m surprised she didn’t had any Scandinavian ancestry, always thought of her as a mix of British, Irish, German, and Scandinavian. I’m curious to know how her Sicilian ancestors looked like, since there’s a split in phenotype on the island, some look quite mixed with Arab, some look more Northern Italian, with light eyes and light brown/dirty blonde hair, either way, she was 75% Western and Northwestern European, and her appearance matched that.
