Daniel Craig is a British actor. He is known for starring as James Bond in the films Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time to Die, and for his roles in the films The Power of One, Elizabeth (1998), I Dreamed of Africa, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), Road to Perdition, The Mother, Sylvia (2003), Enduring Love, Layer Cake, The Jacket, Fateless, Munich, Infamous, The Invasion (2007), The Golden Compass, Defiance, Cowboys & Aliens, Dream House, The Adventures of Tintin, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), Logan Lucky, Kings (2017), Knives Out, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and Queer; on the series Our Friends in the North; and in many stage productions.

Daniel is the son of Carol Olivia (Williams), an art teacher, and Timothy John Wroughton Craig, a Merchant Navy midshipman, steel erector, and pub landlord of the Ring o’ Bells in Frodsham and the Boot Inn in Tarporley. His father was born in Aled, Denbighshire, Wales. Daniel is a descendant of Daniel Chamier (1660-1698), a French Huguenot minister, and of Sir William Burnaby, 1st Baronet (c. 1710-1776), a naval officer. He was partly raised in the Wirral Peninsula.

Daniel is married to actress and model Rachel Weisz. He has a daughter with his former wife, actress Fiona Loudon; and a daughter with Rachel.

Daniel’s paternal grandfather was William John Gartland Craig (the son of William Craig and Mary Josephine Gartland). Daniel’s grandfather William was born in Suffolk, England. Daniel’s great-grandfather William was the son of William Craig and Margaret Dunlop, who were of Scottish origin. Mary Josephine was the daughter of Michael Gartland, who was born in Ireland; and of Lucy Ann Grimshaw.

Daniel’s paternal grandmother was Rosalind/Rosalinde Maud Jones (the daughter of Howard Edward Jones and Rosa/Rosalinda Zieman/Ziemann Smith). Daniel’s grandmother Rosalind was from Llandudno, Wales, though most of her parentage was not Welsh. Howard was the son of John Edward Jones and Marian Kate Leverett. Daniel’s great-grandmother Rosa was the daughter of Charles Mayvore Smith and Grace Matilda Wroughton, who were born in India, with Grace being from Madras; and were of English origin.

Daniel’s maternal grandfather was Olwyn Williams (the son of John Samuel Williams and Lydia Lloyd). Olwyn was Welsh, and was born in Hawarden, Flintshire.

Daniel’s maternal grandmother was Doris Frances Hargraves (the daughter of William Jones Hargraves and Agnes Ann Walker). Doris was born in Hawarden, Flintshire, Wales. William was the son of Thomas William Hargraves, who was English, from Chester, Cheshire; and of Mary Elizabeth Jones, who was Welsh, from Bagillt, Flintshire. Daniel’s great-grandmother Agnes was the daughter of William Walker, who was English, from Coalbrookdale, Shropshire; and of Mary Ellis, who was born in Hawarden, Flintshire.
