Cory Monteith was a Canadian actor and musician. He starred as Finn Hudson on the show Glee, and in the concert film Glee: The 3D Concert Movie. His roles also included the films Final Destination 3, Bloody Mary (2006), The Invisible, Whisper (2007), Monte Carlo (2011), Sisters & Brothers, All the Wrong Reasons, and McCanick; the shows Kyle XY, Kaya, Mistresses, and The Assistants; and the made-for-tv movies Killer Bash, Kraken: Tentacles of the Deep, and Hybrid (2007).

Cory was the son of Ann Marie McGregor, an interior decorator, and Joseph Allan “Joe” Monteith, who served in Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. His father was born in Saint John, New Brunswick. His mother was born in Sudbury, Ontario. His surname is Scottish.

Cory’s paternal grandfather was Phillip/Philip Murray Monteith (the son of Joseph Monteith and Bessie Lucinda Jackson). Phillip was born in Saint John, Saint John County, New Brunswick. Joseph was Scottish, born in Glasgow, Glasgow City, the son of James/John Monteith and Sarah Quigley. Cory’s great-grandmother Bessie was born in Saint John, the daughter of Samuel Jackson and Mary Louise/Louisa Flewelling.

Cory’s paternal grandmother was Phyllis Lorraine Sweeney (the daughter of Maynard Brown Sweeney and Margaret Pearl Parks). Maynard was the son of James Oscar Sweeney and Mable Blackadar/Blackador. Margaret was the daughter of William Marshall Parks and Helen Elizabeth Estey.

Cory’s maternal grandfather was William Welland McGregor (the son of Patrick McGregor and Margaret “Maggie” McCool). William was born in Pembroke, Renfrew, Ontario, Canada. Patrick was the son of James McGregor, who was Scottish, and of Ellen O’Brien, who was Irish. Cory’s great-grandmother Margaret was the daughter of Irish parents, Francis William McCool, from County Donegal; and Mary Stackpool.

Cory’s maternal grandmother was Sjoukje “Jacky” DeBoer/de Boer (the daughter of Anske de Boer and Antje van de Glas). Sjoukje was born in Hengelo Municipality, Overijssel, Netherlands. She married Cory’s grandfather in the Netherlands after WWII. Anske was born in Utingeradeel. Antje was born in Achtkarspelen.
