Brian was the son of Rebecca (Parks) and Thomas H. Donlevy. His father was born in Massachusetts. His mother was from Portadown, County Armagh, Northern Ireland. He was raised in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. Brian was married to Lillian Arch Lugosi, until his death. He had one child with his former wife, singer Marjorie Lane.
