Betty Grable was an American actress, pin-up girl, dancer, model, and singer. Betty was the daughter of Lillian Rose (Hofmann/Hoffman) and John Conn Grable. Her second cousin was stage and film actress Virginia Pearson, through their shared paternal Grable great-grandparents. Betty had two children with her former husband, trumpeter Harry James.

Betty’s paternal grandfather was William Baker Grable (the son of Samuel Miller/Millhouse Grable and Rebecca Baker Bridwell). William was born in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. Samuel was born in Louisville, and was a prominent architect. He was the son of Joseph Grable and Lydia Miller. Betty’s great-grandmother Rebecca was born in Culpeper County, Virginia, the daughter of Daniel Bridwell and Rebecca Cromwell.

Betty’s paternal grandmother was Lavina P. “Lavinia” Conn (the daughter of John Nichols Conn and Winifred Lavina/Lavinia “Rena” Morris). Lavina was born in Astoria, Queens, New York City, New York. John was born in Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland, the son of William Conn. Betty’s great-grandmother Winifred was born in Elmhurst, Queens, the daughter of Sylvanus Morris and Jane Rapelye.

Betty’s maternal grandfather was Charles Ernest Hofmann/Hoffman (the son of John Heinrich Louis Hofmann/Hoffman and Henrietta/Henriette Hofmann). Charles was born in Stadtkreis Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Betty’s maternal grandmother was Sarah Elizabeth Goodnough/Goodenough (the daughter of Absalom/Abraham Goodnough/Goodenough and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Reynolds).
